Right now COD 4 has the most complete and perfected package with an amazing singleplayer and an extremely deep and satisfying multiplayer. It's not my favorite game ever, but I think it answers your question if your looking for a general opinion answer. I still think Mass Effect and Gears of War are the best games out, but Mass effect isn't for everyone, and Gears of War is a bit old.
