I am getting a new LCD TV and would like some help choosing between the Sharp Aquos and Samsung.  Both are 1080p but the Aquos is 42" and the Samsung is 40".  I need to keep it to this size due to the entertainment center I have.  I would just like some help from gamers who have either of these and those that know a lot about these tvs.  I am tired of listening to those who will be getting a commission from the sale and not sure if they really know all they are talking about.  Your rresponses are greatly appreciated.

My reccomendation is to look solely at Samsung LCDTVs.  M$ has selected them for all of their kiosks, and that's gotta mean something.  Also, when I check the specs, they are generally better than the other TVs.

Samsungs are great LCD's -- but I think the general consensus in the industry is that the Sharp Aquos line is the best LCD on the market.  The newer Aquos 1080p TV's look fantastic with great response times and nice deep blacks.

That's because they worked together to manufacture many of the hardware parts of the 360, so it's kind of a fixed thing... not saying that samsung tvs are bad, but putting samsung tvs on all their kioks is more of a marketing strategy than a quality issue.

Now for the original poster, both tvs are really nice, but the Sharp Aquos is the best looking tv on the market at the moment. If you have the money I'd say go for it.

It's not even the best looking LCD on the market let alone the best looking tv. The best lcd's on the markt right now are the somy xbr2's, by far. And even they are killed by even a decent plasma.

I have a 26" 720p Panasonic in my room with my 360 hooked to it, imo Panasonics are great t.v.s, even at HD. I have a Phillips in the living room, but the x360 looks better on my panasonic. They're a bit pricey, but if you have the money for it, I'd say invest in it.

15000:1 is dynamic contrast ratio.  Big difference between dynamic and actual contrast ratio.

But to the TC, either TV you get will be fine.

I think you'll find that dynamic contrast ratio will look unnatural and shift the colours in the image too much. Only look at the actual contrast ratio.

I am looking for a 1080p LCD.  Both of these are 1080p.  I know the Sharp is about $800 cheaper right now and a larger screen but the contrast is only 1600:1 while the samsung I believe was 10000:1

be careful with samsungs they're known for speaker faults, im not sure if they've fixed it on the model your after but if its the obvious one im thinking of then be warned, but dont let that put you off it is a better tv than the sharp just if you get speaker faults (mine had crackling and a high pitched sound) make sure you get a new tv becuase it cant be repaired.

That's dynamic cr. Real cr will probably be around the same as the Sharp.

Never had a sharper TV in my life, the Circuit City I bought it from had nothing this size or bigger that looked as sharp, including the plasmas.
