The fact that Cliffy B and whoever though it wa a good idea to put that song at the end of gears is the reason real Hip-Hop (not Rap, rap is what you all listen to on MTV and think is Hip-Hop) is not respected.

Oh and to the poster that said Rap is generalizations and ignorance, the only way it is like that is because of people who don't understand Hip-Hop culture making crap music, and then people like you buying it...(or maybe not you, but people who dont know what real hip hop is.)

yes, they are so smart that they have there songs written for them. that does not = talent. rap, hip hop, pop and dare I say techno doof doof dribble (despite it does take a little bit of talent) are the most talentless forms of music on the planet. Generic manufactured crap. All they do is sing and 3/4's of them dont even do that, lip synchers.

Techno most of the time takes other ppls work and reworks it - not very original. I guess u could say no creativity = no talent?

Rock bands too have songs written for them but not as much as the above. This is why metal, country, jazz and blues are the only proper talent groups. Heavy metal is the new cl@assical. You want to argue that one best you start arguing with music professors from some of the top music universities then.

1) Im not an animal so dont refer to me as dogg.
2) I dont watch MTV or BET or any other you can think of.
3) all current rap, including 50 cent (my god what a stupid name) is an insult to tupac.
4) rock in all its forms has been around much much longer so no, rap does not own rock nor will it ever. its just a trend that is in cycles. It started in the late 70's early 80's, got over shadowed by thrash and prog rock through out that entire time. Got its hooks into the mainstream greatly by the 90's. its now run its course and rock is coming back. Metal is coming back again just like it did in the 80's, WHEN IT WAS THE BIGGEST FORM OF MUSIC ON THE PLANET. Rock will always be there regardless of the current trend.

No rap band will ever be as big or rememberd as much as, dare i say, Elvis, Pink Floyd, The Rollingstones, Metallica, Pantera, hendrix, Neil Diamond.

hell, Neil diamond has more sales then any of your supposed rap gods. Yes he is old, I dont listen to him. But my point is this.

Hes still selling records, I doubt ANY of your rap artist will be able to say the same in 40 years time.

The whole music, which genre is better then that genre arguement is all purely opinion. There is no right or wrong answer so I do try to stay away as much as I can from generalizations and putting the music down. Sure i dont like it so I may slip in crap instead of rap or whatever and if I cop flak for that fair enough.

Its things like rap > rock that I like to argue. I like to keep it fact based as opinions tend to make the discussion head off on a tangent.

Its when bands have been round for half a century, maybe less are instantly discredited because someone doesnt like them, saying that they suck and dont live up to this n that in there eyes. Fine thats your opinion, But if you think your precious rap artist has the longevity to compete with rocks greats then your kidding yourself (im looking at you F-L-I-P).

All the artist I mentioned before have started long before most rap artists, seen them come, then seen them go while they are still selling records 20 years old!!!.

Other then tupac, Cypress hill and beatie boys, Im having a hard time coming up with more then 3 rap artists that have lasted that distance.
