I have a new sony kds60a2020 1080p TV. And was curious what you guys (in your experiences) think the best output resolution for your 360 (non elite) is over component. Should I just let the TV do the upconversion and leave it at 720p? or get half way there an let the tv do it from 1080i? Also wouldn't the optimal output be 1080i since I have an HD-DVD drive?

Thanx in advance

If the tv is upconverting, I would get as close as possible with the 1080i.  If you get a VGA cable for the 360 it will play at your TV's native resolution.  It will upconvert dvds and all for you to 1080p...

Stay at 720p since most of the games are made for that resolution and progressive is noticably clearer than interlace.  1080p would be best though.

I would love to but my TV (along with most current TVs) doesn't accept 1080p through component, only through hdmi, and unfortunately it won't do 1080p through the pc input either :P

I'll get an xbox with HDMI when they start producing the quieter models with the 65nm processors in them

I had a Sony 2500 series and even though it said it didn't do 1080p via vga it worked fine when connected. I'm guessing yours is probably the same. Give it a try

Depends on the game.720p should run best, but in TH Project 8 and CoD3 that are the resolutions are said to be totally screwed up.Just test it.It´s not like it´s hard to change...

I usually find that anything looks best at the TV's native resolution, so I would leave it at 720p.

i noticed that aswell. i got my new 1080p tv 2day and put in gears on 1080i. damn i looked pretty. but when i put in pgr3 it looked like standard def then when i changed to 720p it was pretty again. Personally there isnt much difference between 730p and 1080i when playing most games anyway.

720p is best. There is only a few 1080p games on the 360, which means putting it at any other res would just reduce your games quality, and whats the point of that on a nice new TV.
