Playing Doom and Doom II on a LAN prettyuchbdefined my childhood (well that and Wolfenstein). Halo is one of my faces as well. Call of Duty has it's moments...I'll play it religiously for a few months and put it down. But I always seem to go back to Halo...
the battlefield series is one of the most underrated series ever...but COD the most overrated??? in ur dreams that is a good game with alot of variety it may not have all the destructble stuff bf bc has but it is still a very good game
Deus Ex (although this could be seen as an RPS of sorts), Halo, Half-Life, Quake, Wolfenstein, Marathon, Doom, S.T.A.L.K.E.R., Gears of War, Advent Rising, etc.

CoD is a GREAT game, but I feel it is one of THE MOST overated game series ever. Some people think its like Video game god. Halo is also overated I might add. They are both great, GREAT games, but I feel that they dont deserve this much hype. But yeah thier both great fun.
And I like battlefield more than both of those too.
