I think Lost Odyssey is really good. And even though it gets allot of talk about its online Call Of Duty 4 has a good single player even though its only like 6 hours long its still good. But I gotta say that my favorite this year has to be Orange Box but that's just because i'm a big Half-Life freak. :P
Anyway, my favourites are the Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and it's expansion packs, the Orange Box and Rainbow Six Vegas. And Bioshock, but I've only played a bit of that at a friend's.
Assassins Creed and Bioshock, Mass Effect is on my wanted list so can't comment just yet but if its anything like previous Bioware games it'll be an amazing single payer experience.
If you really want to see what your 360 can do graphically get Bioshock. Its also an amazing story (well, for a video game), and the gameplay really rethinks the fps genre. If you can take a little blood, GET IT
CoD4 is too short to be the best singleplayer experience IMO. it was clearly built for online.

COD4 on normal is too short.... COD4 on veteran is a off course harder making it longer. Play Mile High on Veteran and lets see how long it takes you to complete that mission.
