I don't think any of the COD games are team based at all. Yeah everyone contributes to the score but nobody works as a team (unless you with friends). Everyone just runs around like chickens without heads trying to get a nuke. Nobody thinks of working as a team, but when people do, they win. A lot. Anyways, here are some team based games: Left 4 Dead 2 Rainbow Six Vegas 2 Army of Two: TFD Borderlands Halo And....that's all I can think of right now.

Team Fortress 2 is my favorite since you can actually assist each other with dispensers, teleporters, and medics.

I enjoyed the Halo Reach beta where you had 6 v 6, and you had to capture points. It reminds me of Natural Selection, an old HL1 mod.

I think Bad Company 2 and Halo have a pretty good team based setup

No mention of Borderlands?

The extent of "teamwork" I've experienced on Call of Duty is observing where all of your teammates' bodies are piled up so you know not to go through there.

lol @ the above comment from izzy. yup thats about all the "team" play there is there.

For my part on the 360 i would have to say Team Fortress 2, and Battlefield Bad Company 2 are the most team inspiring/beneficial games out there. Left for dead 1-2 would fall in line after those.

As far as competitive shooters go, I only think of Team Fortress 2. However, as an above poster said, in games like CoD and GeoW where everyone runs around like an idiot, it is very easy to win when you actually DO work together.

IzzieWaru

I said Borderlands :P

The OP might mean online though.

You pretty much got the COD team work spot-on.

Halo 3 - 4 player co-op is fun

TF2 - Multiple classes, some like Medic made just to help team mates

Modern Warfare 2 - Special Ops are really tough solo, with a lot being too time consumingly hard to complete on veteran mode alone.

A lot of these games have no penalties when playing co-op, meaning difficulty and the number of enemies present doesn't change with increased players, so it's really a lot easier taking on a set number of enemies with 4 times the firepower.

Battlefield:Bad Company 1, 2 and Battlefield 1943 are great team based games, especially if you're playing with friends Operation Flashpoint:Dragon Rising is a great team based game, partly because you have an AI squad to help too. Too bad the online is badly in need of a patch which it'll never get Left 4 Dead 1 and 2 because even Will Smith couldn't survive an apocalypse on his own :D

Left for Dead 2 requires a team and has the best elements for a team based game. It even spawns stuff on you if you try to be solo and run away from the group.

If your looking at it from a competitive aspect it is easily halo 3. With halo 3 you need to team shoot, you need to know the spawns and all the weapon respawn times if you want to win.
