Hey there folks.

This is a very noobish question, but I would like you guys to detail your answers as much as possible. I saw the official wireless adaptor from Microsoft, but it's way too pricey (at least for me). Isn't there another way to connect the Xbox to the internet without using that expensive adaptor?

Oh, btw, my Xbox isn't anywhere near my wireless router, so using an Ethernet cable wouldn't solve it.

pretty sure you need the official xbox adapter.

a new version has just been released so you may find the older version at a lower price now.

I have heard of people using the wireless adapter from the original xbox, you should be able to find one of those cheaper than the 360 version.

The 1st XBOX360 adaptor is fine, it is relatively cheap online (amazon.com, newegg.com, etc.). You don't need the new "N" adaptor unless you have a Wireless N router to take advantage of it. Even then, You're still limited by your overall internet connection speed.

I originally tried hooking up the original XBOX adaptor, but was never able to get it to work right. If you do a google search, there are all sorts of different ways to hook up, including going through a laptop.

Well you can buy very lengthy ethernet cables for like £5. But if that's still not an option then no, you need a wireless adaptor.
