Which do you think is the best Xbox 360 RPG from the list below? I've omitted the blockbusters like Mass Effect, Fallout and Oblivion. And yes, I know Alpha Protocol is less an RPG and more a stealth action game, but its my list and my topic, so there!

Resonance of Fate

Tales Of Vesperia

Infinite Undiscovery

Eternal Sonata

Star Ocean: The Last Hope

Alpha Protocol

Lost Odyssey

Record of Agarest War

EDIT: Also please state why you chose the game you did.

The "Tales" series has always been decent, but the combat in Vesperia doesn't seem amazing.

Did you even read his post, he knows about Failout 3, Failout New Vegas and Oblivion, (and you wrong the best RPG's on Xbox 360 are Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2 and Dragon Age Origins :P), he was asking which one OUT OF THE ONES ON HIS LIST was the best.

Anyway quite liked Infinite Undiscovery, not the best but is quite fun, Lost Odyssey is also pretty good, out of the rest I have only played Star Ocean, but didn't play long enough to form an opinion on it.

And only 3 of those got an 80% or above according to gamerankings.com. When included with the other games listed they are extremely average for the Xbox 360.

There are literally 8 Xbox RPGs out now ranked higher according to Gamerankings.com than the highest ranked one on his list. I think that's a valid point.

jmartinez1983

I own all of these games and most are good games but some fall flat.

Ive yet o play Alpha Protocol, but i do own it so i got nothing to say about that yet.

First off Record of Agarest War is a Turn Based Rpg similar to Final Fantasy Tactics, so its not technically a rpg like the others. Its an ok game, not something i would knock someone out over.

Star Ocean is your longest rpg and it has a good story to me and the classic Star Ocean combat similar to Tales games. Its your best choice if you want your moneys worth. Which isn't much since you can get this game for near nothing now.

Eternal Sonata is an ok game, but the story was blah. it has great combat. Id play the others over it if i had to again.

Infinite Undiscovery is a generic action rpg that you may or may not like. It falls short.

Tales of Vesperia is a great rpg. Its very light hearted and like all tales games it semi-side scrolling combat with a man and woman as the leading roles. This is a great rpg.

Resonance of Fate is a different kind of rpg. Its an action rpg, but its more tactical. It uses guns as weapons and has some fancy jump moves. You target body parts on enemies to find weaknesses. Very creative story and an all round good game.

Lost Odyseey feels like a hyped up Final Fantasy game. The story is excellent and the characters feel like they have distinct personalities. Its a very long game that is beautiful to look at. The only gripe i had about it was its HARD. You won't find a easy going rpg here. You will be required to grind levels quite a bit just to get to the next area.

Overall out of these i found Lost Odyssey to be the best core rpg. It has all the elements of a classic rpg and keeps it simple. Just be prepared to read your ass off.

Another you should check out is Magna Carta 2. That would have been 2nd to lost odyssey to me. If i had to pick an order this would be it.

1 -Lost Odyssey

2 -Tales of Vesperia

3 - Resonance of Fate

4 - Star Ocean

5 - Record of Agarest War

6 - Eternal Sonata

7 - Infinite Discovery

And?have you lost the basic knowledge of what a "topic" is? It doesnt matter if theres a million games out there he made a list of specific games and asked what is the best of those. He did NOT ask what is the best rpg on the xbox, he asked what is the best rpg FROMTHELIST BELOW.

Its his topic.

You said their were much better and popular rpgs on the xbox and then you contradict yourself by saying he may not know these said rpgs? really? I think you should just accept the fact that your wrong and move on. Its also very likely that he has played all of the top rpgs which is why he said excluding the blockbusters as he probably wants a new rpg to play?

Should have been more clear... I omitted Mass Effect, Fallout, Fable, and Oblivion because I've played them all. I'm trying to find out what the better "second tier" Xbox RPGs are since they aren't talked about nearly as much and there may be a great gem in there somewhere. As for Gamerankings and review scores and all that... who cares about scores? One of my favorite RPGs this generation has been Last Remnant and that got less than a 7 on average almost entirely because of technical and graphics glitches which could be at least partly remedied by installing the game to the hard drive. For Tales of Vesperia: Is the combat as mindless as the review makes it seem? For Star Ocean: Are some of the characters as annoying as the reviews make them seem?

Resonance of Fate - It is fun and they battle system is different from anything else. The story is a little dull.

Tales Of Vesperia - The store is good but for the fact that it copy same plot that all "Tales Of ..." does. The combat is about the same as those.

Infinite Undiscovery - The story have some twist to it but the combat is a bit dull/

Eternal Sonata - I don't remember it well.

Star Ocean: The Last Hope - The plot cover good amount but some of it seam to have little to do with the main danger. The combat is good.

Alpha Protocol - It not a bad game. The level design is from last gen. One of the best choose dialog system out there. There also so much that you can do in the levels and some any ways to play.

Lost Odyssey - The enemies are rich and combat is fun and challenging. The story get draggy.

Record of Agarest War - never played.

Final Fantasy XIII - good story that is deep but still allow for good shallow parts. The enemies are rich and a challenge.

Fallout 3 - there is much to do but the story is week and the entire world is only grey and tan. The combat is horrible. If you want combat that is slow pace and easy then this is the game.

Fallout New Vega – the story is better than Fallout 3. Combat is a bit better but I would not give it a reward for the combat.

Mass Effect – Good combat but everything is so linear. Think FF13 but with out the large open world later.

Dragon Age – take KotoR and the combat from FF12 and you get this. Not that innovative.

Of all the games on your list, I pick Eternal Sonata. I have Infinite Undiscovery, but it lost my interest quickly. I have plans on going back to it, but I doubt I will. Eternal Sonata is such a cool game. It's really pretty, and the battle system was fun. The orchestral score is is great too. I also found the story to be interesting as well. I lost my old saves so I never finished it. But to be honest, the Mass Effect series is the Xbox RPG to me. Fable is second.

I've not played them all, but I would recommend Eternal Sonata which was beautiful (in several ways) and Alpha Protocol which was just plain entertaining (although it takes a little while to get your character to a competent level). I played through Lost Odyssey, but didn't enjoy it all that much.

The combat is great, the story is ok. Overall, I got bored with it pretty fast. Some of the cut scenes are loooooong. Like 10 minutes long.

Lost Odyssey by far - Very well-told, emotional, and unique story. Good voice acting (for the most part) with interesting characters. Gameplay that is fun, difficult, and requires actual thought and tactical approach.

Bottom line: don't pretend you know how good a game is unless you've personally played it. I bet you say all the time how unimportant reviews are and how it's only that person's opinion (just like 95% of these forums do) so naturally you shouldn't turn around and use reviews to make a judgement when it's convenient for you.

For Star Ocean: Are some of the characters as annoying as the reviews make them seem?jmartinez1983

The combat is kind of mindless in Vesperia, but its not so bad that it drowns out the game. You spend more time with story elements than combat.

Star Ocean's characters are kind of annoying but easy to deal with
