they have different art directions so i'ts hard to say. as far as detail goes then i would say gears of war. as far as scale, vistas and cool effects (plasma grenade and scarab explosions) i would go with halo 3.
yeh Id probably say that in detail Gears beats Halo 3 but definitely Id probably rather play Halo cos in Gears the bleakness of the colours camaflouges everything and its harder to make out stuff
Dose it matter how good the graphics are? Some of the best games ever made don't have that great of graphics and plus GRAW 2 dose beat both Halo 3 and Gears

The day/night cycle is amazing (in the totorial level), as for gears halo 3, gears has more detail, better textures. halo 3 has a huge scale, awesome lighting and other effects and just more action going on, so i personaly like the look of halo 3 better.
Gears when I am playing it it looks better but the screenshots I've seen (most of the pc ones) are crap but gears looks very good when you are playing.
Graphically Halo 3 isn't fantastic. Gears and many other games are graphically stronger, but what makes Halo stand out from the crowd is the gameplay. That's why it will last for many years. I'm not the biggest fan of Halo but I do understand why it has such a strong fan base.
Halo 3 is a great game. Really. But you have to agree that graphically, it's not very good for this generation. It's outperformed by allot of games. Gears completely destroys it in the graphical department. Whether or not it's also a better game is obviously personal preference. They don't play alike so that's different for everyone.
Well the art direction of each game is the variable here. If you prefer the art direction of Halo to Gears, then you will likely say Halo, and vice-versa, but I would have to go with Gears of War.
Gears is stunning to look at, even by today's standards. I don't look at Halo at get stunned. It's pretty, but not stunning for my tastes at all.

not at all.. allthough it's purely subjective, they are not better in a technicall way. not at all. and pretty?... i don't even think you mean pretty.. Lot's of games ar better art directed.
I play with a HD projector. on a 100 inch screen Graw 2 is in the top ten 360 games when it comes to graphics, but not in the top 5.
No one considers Bioshock a graphical masterpiece, in an art deco kind of way? (You have to at least admit it has the best warter effects to date!)

But it was a question between Gears/Halo 3.Bioshock had a whole dev team on the water effects so I agree, bioshock is a lovely looking game with a fantastic art style.
Gears cuz Halo 3 came out later and they could've done more to the 360s potential. Gears looks better and was made a lot earlier than H3 which is kinda sad for Bungie. Gears is known for its awesome graphics with mostly their blood effects while H3 is only known for selling 300 million dollars worth of games the first week and im not bein a spoiler but u hear it eventually that the actual ending sucked, and i haven't even played it yet so im not a spoiler. I just hear it all the time...

I have heard no great facts about the graphics in Halo 3 when it was made so much later than Gears which is kinda sad for Bungie. Since they had more time to make the game and had more experience with the potential of the 360.
