After I saw that gamespot gave Viking: Battle for Asgard a 5.0 while the user rating is 8.0, it got me to wondering if anyone knew of a difference between the two ratings as big or bigger than this. 3 whole points of differential is hard to top, but does anyone know of any game that was rated like this for 360 or any platform for that matter?

I think you have to look at the user ratings that are posted. Some people will rate a game as a perfect 10 if they like it, or 1, 2, or 3 if they hate it. Not really a usefull rating if I go and give my favorites all a 10 rating. Realistically every game I like has something I would change or that could be done better - 10 should be almost impossible to hit....

But, some people are 10 or nuthin.

The aggregate user rating then is distorted as the average user rating is cranked up by the artificial 10 ratings given by these reviewers.

Really a disservice to people trying to get a sense of whether or not this is a game they would like to own.

Nothing drives me nuts more than reading a user review where the guy sez ".... the graphics are really awfull, but the game is fun to play" and then rates it a 10.

//my 2 cents anyway
