I really wish they would just stick to single player. We have other games series for multiplayer-COD,GearsofWar,Halo,Team Fortress. I mean if the single player is just as long and as good fine I've got no complaints, but the loss of resources to make the multiplayer make me worried.
Consider this post a big middle finger to all the idiots who complained that the original Bioshock didn't have miltiplayer. You obviously missed the point of the game and I don't know what world your living in but not every FPS needs multiplayer. I see this becoming like Metroid Prime 2. Great single player with some half assed multiplayer that no one will play.
i think if they make it seperate like Half Life 2 did with couterstrike source or Team Fortress 2 then it could be good but since they probly wont and theyll take precious recourcses from the single player experience then it is a bad idea
People overreact, the singleplayer will still be great. They know that the singleplayer is what's important, and they'll put all their effort into it. The multiplayer will either be a descent simple multiplayer or a crappy extra feature. Either way, the singleplayer will be the same with or without the multiplayer.
I doubt it will be good but it doesnt hurt to have itraylewisnfl52
But it does hurt. They're taking away resources from the single player to make a multiplayer mode that is completely useless and unneeded. Just because the game is in first person doesn't automatically mean it has to have multiplayer.

I really think that is a great idea.;) It would solve both problems of them taking there time to make a great single player and a great multiplayer without losing the resorceson ether.
I think Bioshock did exceptionally well without any multiplayer at all, and personally, I wish Bioshock 2 would remain an epic single-player experience. Since this is not the case, I hope they still focus on the singleplayer aspect of the game the most. When it comes to Bioshock, I'm wanting to play through a great story, not play a crappy deathmatch withprepubescent boys pathetically bashing me.
Co-Op pleease... Thats it.

That's all that i'd want. Even though i wouldn't faint if they added it. I played the original for the singleplayer i really can't see how they'd implement multiplayer.. It just doesn't seem like it would work well. Obviously they can add things but it just doesn't seem like it would be the same great experience. I'm having my doubts about the game now.

If they do have multi-player I can see it being about a husband and father who's daughter was taking and there on a mission to find out to save her. Please don't let it be that simple.I think this is a great idea! They could have easily thrown together a multiplayer mode in the last one since all the levels are seperated already and they have a sick thing built in too (plasmids)! This will be awesome!
I am getting increasingly concerned about this game. Following such an amazing first game, seriously one of the greatest 360 games, there is so much that could go wrong. Hopefully the story is actually good and not just a lame story that is only there because they wanted to make a sequel. I'm also scared that the environments aren't going to be as good. I hope they dont take away some of the creepy atmosphere and replace it with lighter environments. Then there are the rumors of Big Sisters, and I dont know if i like that idea. And now multiplayer could kill it. they absolutely can not even start working on multiplayer until they are completely done with the story mode as if they werent going to have multiplayer. Then they are going to have to work EXTRA hard to make sure it doesnt feel tacked on which i have a feeling it might. Hopefully i'm wrong and everything will be great, but i am worried. No matter what though i will be getting this day one.
To answer the question, I dont mind there being multiplayer as long as the single player is still as good as it would be without it, even if it is tacked on,if it doesnt interfere with single player i dont care. And who knows maybe it will be great.
P.S. To the people who said co-op would be good, NO! That would defeat the purpose of isolation you have from the game. In the first game, the only human contact you have is over radios, through windows and such, or enemies, and now there would be a friend right there. Bye-Bye horror.
I couldn't care less. Even though I haven't played the first Bioshock (it's still sealed in my drawer), I've heard that the game is great without multiplayer. I hate how some people won't even touch a game if it doesn't have multiplayer. I think it's such stupid reason to not pick up a game. Anyway, I couldn't care less if Bioshock 2 has multiplayer because I doubt I'll play it.
I really dunno if it's going to be anything special. Even if I get Bioshock 2, I don't see myself spending anytime on the multiplayer. It seems like one of those series that should just stick to keeping the single player amazing.
[QUOTE="Coyote32"]I don't know anything about co-op. I guess it would be cool.Co-Op pleease... Thats it.

The other thing to note is if the multiplayer doesn't play better than CoD4 or Halo it will be hit negatively on reviews... so expect a 8.0-8.5 at best due to multiplayer being 'weak'. Really I don't see why they bother with multiplayer at all if it isn't the emphasis. It will be a lose / lose situation unless the not only match the single player experience, but also blow the multiplayer 'brand names' out of the water in multiplayer.raahsnavjWhich they very well might do so I would throw away all of these preconceived notions....

Completely agree. Bioshock is my favorite FPS on this console (even over games like COD4 and Halo 3). The trip to Rapture was awesome. The atmosphere was awesome! Little Sisters, Big Daddies, Atlas, it was all awesome! The storyline was SO SO much better than any of the other FPS games.
I feel that by focusing on a single player game AND multiplayer that it can take away a great single player experience. A multiplayer isn't needed in Bioshock. What's the the point? To add replay value? I will take an epic single player experience over an incredible multiplayer game any day of the week. Bioshock could have really used a new game+ option if you wanted to add replay value.

They already told us it will have it, but it won't be the emphasis. That right there smells of failure. Either say you are going to take on CoD multiplayer head on AND single player, or realize the one you don't focus as much on will drag down your scores. Only if they say it won't ship until we get both aspects perfect will I expect the multiplayer to be anything but a hinderance.
I don't care if they have multiplayer or not as long as the single player still rocks. msudude211way to butcher the language.
While Bioshock was an amazing game, its actual gunplay was not one of its greatest strengths. I think thats one of the core elements to a successful and worthwhile multiplayer element. Yes, Bioshock has plasmids, but how well would that fit into what needs to be a *balanced* multiplayer mode? I'm not optimistic.
And to those who are ok with co-op, I have to strongly disagree. Certain games lend themselves to co-op, and they're usually games with the emphasis on the action, which Bioshock is not. It would also take away a bit of the feeling of 'solitude' that gives the game a nice tense overlying vibe. I would greatly miss that.
So a big resounding 'NO' from me. I will be happy to be proven wrong when it comes out, but I'm not getting my hopes up. All I can hope is that we dont have to deal with a heavily compromised game.
Bioshock and Dead Space were two of my favorite games this gen because they were an immersive single player experience. That being said, co op and all that is the cool thing to do but I highly dislike it and 95% of the time play by myself. To each their own, but I think Bioshock should of stayed single.
