In my case, the update f up the game completely. The framerate was on the floor and everything else was pretty messed up, so I had to delete the update... and everything is fine again.

Just give it a try... if it runs smooth then keep it, if it doesn't, deleting the cache for a game is a pretty easy and short process.

The same thing happened to me, the framerate part that is. Before the update, it ran smoothley, but when the update cam, idk, but the framerate will go off. Like for example, I wolud be walking out of nowhere the screen will stay still for about a half-a-second, then it would return to normal. But after a while it stopped.

My framerate dropped after the update. How do you clear the cache? and if i delete the update will it not just ask me to update the game again?

You can clear your cache by pressing both shoulder BUTTONS (not the triggers) while the game is loading. (some say its best to press these buttons just after the 360 starts the game and just before you start to see the game).

If you play bioshock without the update, xbl will give you a message that tells you theres an update, however you yourself can choose wether or not to get it

Im not that sure about all of this but this is what ive heard of lately
