Its tied to the first through the themes that made up the first game - being stuck in a strange city idealized by its overzealous politics, the morals/immorals present, the use of strange powers, heck even "big daddies." Just because it doesnt rehash the city of Rapture doesnt mean its not the same game. Why dont people think about it, or heck, just watch any of the many interviews with Ken Levine where he outright states why they made the choices they did. Just because it has a different city doesnt mean its a completely new game. Your assessment is weak.
The last I had heard about it, there was a lot of speculation that it might be Rapture before it became an underwater city. The politics/moral code are pretty much identical and there are plenty of clues in last year's trailer to support the possibility. Again, that was from the last I had heard of it. I still look forward to it's release, though. It looks interesting to say the least and I hope it lives up to it's predecessors.
Cant wait for it. Looks fantastic. Bioshock is the name of the franchise & Rapture was a different story to Infinite. Its weird having the main character talking since im so used to Jack not speaking but it will be just as awesome.
After the mess that was Bioshock 2, it's good to have the team that did the original back working on the series. So far what I've seen of Infinite looks really really good.
I wish I didn't have to wait another year for it though. I guess as long as I get to play through it a couple of times before the end of the world next December all will be good. ;)
I love the first BioShock (never played the second) and I'm really impressed with the demonstration they gave of Bioshock Infinite. It's still a while off though so, I don't really understand why they decided to talk about it so early.
I don't know what to make of it. That gameplay footage looked incredible no doubt, but it looked so damn good and clean that part of me believes it was an entirely scripted demo sequence built to show off the engine (which also looks incredible). Knowing Ken Levine, it'll no doubt turn out amazing, part of me just doubts it turning out as amazing as that video.
