I agree with the TC more or less. I definetly gave this game a fair shake; I saved every little sister & listened to most of the audio diaries, but it just wasn't as great as people make it out to be. The atmosphere & storyline, while supposedly the game's strongest points, feel completely contrived.
The story had a lot going for it, but it gets compromised during silly moments like "drinking a bioengineered potion that let's you shoot bees out of your arm, which swarm around a potion junky, who for god knows what reason has taken a fancy to scuttling around the ceiling and fighting with imposing looking hooks instead of the abundance of firearms laying around." Also, the little exchange with Ryan toward the end of the game was absolutely absurd. There entire game is littered with nonsense events and things that were done to make the game seem "cooler", but they ultimately only take away from the experience. Even with a goofy story, the gameplay is great; or atleast it could have been had it not been for the vita-chambers, which totally eliminate any suspense or need of skill.
Even though I've given this game a real hard time, it's only because I was let down after the insane amount of hype that followed it. It is what is though, and that's a pretty fun/good looking game. I'll definetly buy the sequel if/when it comes out. The whole thing, though, is a pretty predictable trend. Anytime a shooter comes out with a bit more polish than usual, people tend to go bananas.
