Well being that Bioshock isnt being released until August 21st, cant really give a subjective opinion on it, as only the press and the developers have played it thus far. But I did play oblivion and quite frankly thought it was a bit overrated for what it was. I like RPG's, but I prefer more standard turned based linear RPG's to free roaming open ended run around forever RPGs. More than just the big world, I didnt like the combat system at all, if it can even be called a system. Really took me out of it. Just didnt like it, wasnt my cup of tea.
So I say do some research on both and make up your own mind on what you would like more. Bioshock looks fantastic from the videos and screenshots, but cant be completely certain as the game isnt released yet. Of course you could always do what someone else mentioned and buy oblivion now (altho I recommend renting it first to see if you'll like it) and save up for Bioshock and get the best of both worlds. Because if you do like oblivion it can easily last you until Bioshock is released.
Buy Obliv, since it's so long and huge and has so much content, rent Bioshock, since while it may have an awesome single player, it's not incredibly long, and no MP.
