I am contemplating on whether not to buy it.

I would definetly buy it. It didn't win X-play's game of the year for nothing. It has really good replay value, an excellent story, i mean. You might not wanna go play it again right after you beat it, but a month after beating it, you'll def. wanna go try it on hard. 10/10 because the only shooter on three sixty that tried to be different, and it was successful.
Buy if you don't mind the fact that there is no multiplayer.
Bioshock is one of the most immersive games to date, as far as the storyline and environment go. Fantastic game. 9/10
thanks people im thinking im probably going to buy it. but is there anything that would make me want to buy the game 100% for sure?
If you read the ones who say rent you know they are trolls. I dont have the game, however I did play it and its great, getting it sometime this month. For my review for the 2hrs I played it I will give it a 10/10 simply because it was fun, didnt find nothing wrong with it to make it a 9 or lower. May be different when I buy the full game because of replay value or other things but the game is fun and you def. should buy itVikings_domo
WTF is a troll? I've seen that term used several times on this forum.

The real question that will determine how much you'll enjoy Bioshock is: How old are you?
Bioshock is full of deep narrative, atmosphere, and themes of morality. It's hard to appreciate if you're a kid who likes blowing things up and games that are "THE DOPEST!!!". Definitely a game aimed at mature, adult gamers. Whereas, if you want to shoot things and blow stuff up, you should definitely check out Halo 3, or Call of Duty 4 on the same system (most of the people on this forum).
That being said, Bioshock is one of the best games I've ever played, and is garnering Game Of The Year from many sites already.

Actually, I was looking for a deep and engaging story with an awesome atmosphere, but bioshock just didn't have it for me. I did like games like Kotor and ME, I was looking for an RPG with shooter elements in Bioshock.

But you sure enjoy Halo 3 online, don't you? :|
If you're willing to score a game an 8-10 out of 10 then it is worth a buy. I don't understand why people feel a game is only worth buying if it has replay value. It's like a movie or a book. Even though you know the outcome, who says in a year or so you wont wanna experience it again? Especially since this game is really worth it and deserves the support.
Great theme. 1950's steampunk that takes place in a city under the sea. Strong swearing, dead bodies, and blood makes it feel real. The story makes you want to know what happened down here. Characters are very interesting. Quotes are both funny and rememberable at times. Good music. Both game and 1950's music to set the mood. Beautiful graphics. Game can give you a challenge if you choose not to upgrade. You can get all but two achievements for it on your first time through (like I did) so it will boost your score.
