I say rent it, it's a solid FPS but it's not a game worthy of a 9.7 considering what other games have gotten. The graphics are allright nothing that really floored me, Gameplay reminded me of condemned with magic and inventing stuff which was cool but you know... I bought it and once I beat it I'm selling it to my friend, maybe even before I beat it. The game just didn't click for me, most the time I get hooked on a game and beat it within a few days but I've had Bioshock since the second day of release and still am not even close to beating it, I have no craving to play the game and don't find it amazingly fun while playing it. Everyone has their own preference and taste though

Buy it, defintely buy it; even when you beat it, it has tons of replay value like deciding whether or not too harvest those little sisters?

Yeeeaaah. Dont listen to him. Rent it. Its worth a play through but like the other guy said its just a decent fps. The whole alternate endings c**p... there's one. its a fun fps but theres nothing new here.

EDIT: Oh yeah about the replay value.... none, you can prettymuch do everything the first time round. I even got all the powers without harvesting the lil b****es

It really depends how you live the video-gaming thing. I never had any doubt that I had to have it in my library, but then again I rarely rent games, I like to have a collection of titles. You know..., historical reasons and **it. I dig the art work, the production values, every little thing. I respect the product. I don't "just play it as fast as I can, and dump it".

Yeah it maybe "just a decent fps" to you but when he asked for "my opinion" I gave it so telling him not too listen to me seems stupid, oh and next time please state "Spoilers" before telling everyone how many or what the endings are.

As yousaid BUY IT YOU FOOL!!! Its a great FPS. The story, atmosphere, the enimies have so much character and the powers are so awsome. Its a game that you will be happy to have in your game libary. Plus its got a pretty box:D. The graphics are also awsome. IMO it looks better then GeOW. The worlds seem to have a life of thier own.

like u said rent it fool! its definitely unique and there arent many games like it for the 360 but its not all that great. u can beat it in a rental period. u can enjoy it in a rental period. u can even get a majority of the achvments in a rental period. if ur interested i say rent. if ur not all that interested then forget about it. BioShock is gonna be one of those games that wont be getting much action from anyone in the next couple of months. so much is coming out that this game just wont interest u anymore... is that worth $60 ???

I'd say buy it, it is a great fps with the only knock on it being its a little short and lacks a multi-player element.

I don't know what these other morons are talking about. Bioshock is one of the best, most atmospheric, prettiest, eerie awesome game I've ever played. The graphics are insane, but I have a full HDTV to play it on. If these people that weren't impressed with it haven't been playing on HD, that might explain why they didn't think it was that pretty. I've seen it played on HD and SD, and I can say, yes, HD really does make that much of a difference. I can't understand for the life of me how anyone who games could not like this game, at least out of respect for it's artwork and story. I guess I'll just never understand some things.

Download the demo. If you enjoy it, you'll probably enjoy the rest of the game too, and it would thus warrent a buy. If not, I would still give it a rent - it may grow on you.

Honestly, I wasn't at all hyped for BioShock prior to playing the demo. Afterward...well, I picked it up as soon as stores opened on the first day it was out. It's rare to find a game that integrates story that well into the experience. Also, I did feel like I wanted to play it again immediately after finishing it...the only thing stopping me was the release of Metroid Prime 3. So at least for me, it does have some replayability.

I agree with game-spots review it's only a 9 because the combat gets kinda silly since the guns feel like they get so weak later on in the game, why don't you die with point blank range with a shotgun i just upgraded???? and its not really open game, just some linear normal fps shooting. Though do your self a favour and at least play it, either rent or buy it the water effects are just so cool as well as the environment and it scares me alot so can only play for a little while before my nerves are shot.

yes i am man enough to admit that the game scares me, come one :P when the lights go out in the room and music starts with screaming from every direction, feels like at any time somethings going to come out and get me lol. Because of this the game is just a must buy for me in all its creepy goodness, sound and scripted events just are so well done

and some one above said they normally play games in a week and does not get the erg to play it , i agree with them its not a super fun run and gun fps like halo that i can just blaze through it feels like a damn spooky movie more than a game

I'd go with rent it or even better if you can borrow it from a friend. It's a good game but I can't see myself spending 60 bucks for it when I'd probably just play through it twice as good and bad then never touch it again. Same thing with the demo. I had some people tell me they played the demo 10 times because it was so amazing. I played through it twice and once I thought I got enough out of it I was done.

I'm not the type who has to go through and unlock every achievement or complete every goal or whatever though.

i agree with everything ross25 just said ^ its just a damn good work of art, no one who thinks video games are just silly games for children and are not a art form in any way would have a much different opinion after playing this game : ) its just the good

people that are telling u 2 buy it probably bought it. and people who rent it will tell u rent it. i havnt bought it or rented it, but Ive played the demo, and with out much replayibility i would consider renting it. I have friends that bought it that beat it in like the first few days of owning it.

I'll be honest in saying that as good as the game is, it's not like it's super long, nor does it have multiplayer so you need to ask yourself if you want a game that will last you a few weeks then probably sit for some time (unless of course you play it over and over again). If you're well enough off that you can keep games around like that then I think it's a good buy, otherwise a lengthly rental from Gamefly is a good option. I haven't beat it yet, not because it's so long, but because I'm playing through 4 different games right now. Even when I do beat it I'm not going to sell it, I'll just put it on the shelf with my other games because it is a very good game.

the game is unique to a point but not enough to buy; however, if you like actually taking the time to appreciate the highly rich scenery, which is present in just about every room, I would say that it is worth buying. but then again, If you have any qualms about killing people, dont buy, just rent.

good luck

the game is still too violent and not unique enough, which is why I dont really enjoy it too much. somehow killing people just ruins the experience, butthe scenery is simply lovely. so, i'm still anxiously waiting for Too Human.

thanks

I would say buy it.
If you play it enough, it may only take you a week to complete but there is replay value. You may want to go back for achievements, or just to play the game differently.
Besides all that, it's really a game that you want in your collection anyway - It is afterall one of the best games to grace the X360 yet.

bioshock is one of the best games i've ever played but it has it's faults like weapons being very weak later on and hacking really does become annoying. i hate renting games and don't see much point in it so i'd just download the demo and if you like that then you'll love the game because the storyline just gets stronger and stronger

Harvest them - Bad ending

Save them - Good ending

Harvest half and Save half - Bad ending

Your best bet is to download the Demo and see if you like it or not. If you like the game, you need to make a choice of renting it or just buying it. If your the type of person that likes to go back to the games that you have beaten and go for a different approach each time, then i think you should buy it. If your the type of person that likes to play a game once, blast through it and get the game over with, then just go rent it. Btw i baught it on the first day of release (last copy) and finished it on easy in 3-4 days. However, im going to play it agian but take a different approach (diffrent plasmids, not harvesting sisters) which to me is a different experience and is a form of replay value.

First try the demo to see if you like it. If so, and if you're still on the fence - rent it. You can always buy it afterwords if you really enjoyed the rental.
