Bioshock is not a RPG. Its a first person shooter. 2 totally different games.Radiozo
Yep. Two Worlds Vs. Oblivion is more like it.
I noticed how strikingly similar BioShock is to Oblivion, so I felt like creating this thread in response. Both are RPG's and have massive free-roaming worlds. And In both games, you can pick up anything left behind by an enemy. NicAgent
I have'nt seen any of those two things in Bioshock..

lol! like comparing troll 2 with the shining lol
Haha. It's better than comparing Bioshock and Oblivion though.
Oblivion is barely an RPG and BioShock is an FPS with minor RPG elements. Where's the similarity?RobbieH1234
Oblivion is "barely" and RPG? Ok, what games do you consider to be an RPG if you think Oblivion barely qualifies?

KotOR, Fallout, Fallout 2, Neverwinter Nights, Baldur's Gate, Planescape Torment, etc. In your opinion, what qualifies Oblivion as an RPG?I noticed how strikingly similar BioShock is to Oblivion, so I felt like creating this thread in response. BioShock is a very very very weird game...it's nothing like Oblivion. I would say that the content is more like Silent Hill.

Bioshock has some RPG elements. The plasmids and tonics allow for character developement, but it reminds me a bit more of Deus Ex. The character development in Oblivion is largely stats-based.
There is a lot of room to explore in Bioshock (according to the interview, not so much on the demo), but it's not really the vast, free-roaming world that Oblivion is.
So, apart from the gameplay, the environment, the graphics and the story, they're completely alike.

There is far more to an RPG than that. A quality main story (which Oblivion lacks), well written dialogue (which Oblivion lacks), giving the player choices (which Oblivion lacks), consequences on the game world (which Oblivion lacks), combat which is reliant on your character skill, not player skill (which Oblivion lacks), and need I point out the level scaling problem that is so obvious in Oblivion?. This review sums up how I feel about Oblivion pretty nicely.[QUOTE="Spykezilla"]I compared Two Worlds and Oblivion. YOU moron.

oh yeah. i meant the guy i argued with i thought he started it since he was so into it. But why did you start the thread BTW?
Indeed, back on topic. Why was this thread needed?[QUOTE="Spykezilla"]I compared Two Worlds and Oblivion. YOU moron.

I've never seen anyone else feel that way, and I'm sure you're in the minority.
