I was hoping Mass Effect would win, but I guess the technical issues really bothered the game advisory panel in the first place *sigh*. I haven't played Bioshock yet so I'm thinking I should at least go rent it very soon.
BTW how did Mass Effect not win original score? I was very shocked when I heard that because the original score in it is beautiful, goes very well with the theme of the game.
Honestly i think Bioshock did deserve game of the year. I have COD4, Halo 3, and Bioshock, and though they are all great, bioshock brings a LOT more to the plate. personally i havent played Mass Effect so i cant bring out an opinion on that part. but again WELL DESERVED BIOSHOCK!!!!
That is the linke for anyone who wants to read about it. Personally I don't think the Spike TV Game awards are very creditable and have always been pretty biased towards the 360. Nontheless I am happy a game like Bioshock (a xbox360 console exclusive) gets to hold the right to this so called "prestige" award.
Assassins Creed got snubbed. Should have at least been in the running imo for the climbing mechanics alone... not to mention graphics, story, cinematography and soundtrack.
I'm happy it won. it delivered in all aspects that awards are decided on. Looks, sound, gameplay, story, it had it all.
and ppl say it didnt have multi so it shouldnt have won but the ppl that decide the awards arent us playing online24/7 so there's no way a game will win ONLY cause of a greatmultiplayer (though a mutliplayer on that game would have been sick). and it was a creative and original story cause i have system shock 2 and the stories are completely diffrent. plus the creators even called it a "spritual sequel" so i dont know why y'all are complaining like you didnt understand that.
while assassins creed is good, bioshock is a masterpiece, it was the only game this year that i couldnt stop playing till i beat it. cod4 would be second for me, while it didnt last long bioshock gave me the best videogame experience in a long time, prolly since kotor.
I was one of the few that just hated bioshock with a passion I mean c'mon it should have gone to either Halo 3 or COD4. Bioshock is nothing compared to those games or even Assasins Creed which didnt get as much attention as it really deserved
all of you who think that halo 3 should had got GOTY , well you shouldnt feel bad about it... halo 3 is more of a multiplayer game and it got the award for "most addicting game of the year"...
I wouldn't say Spike TV is biased... or at least they don't show it. They had tony hawk present an award and the category afterwards and SKATE beat tony pro skater. Tho if tony hawk won anything it would've ruined the award shows creditability

WAS is the key word here. It WAS the best for about 2 weeks but now it just sucks balls. The only game ever made by Bungie that deserved a GOTY award was Halo CE.

Personally I think Kane & Lynch should have got game of the year. Why? Because Eidos payed me to say that.
