Join your friends in the all-out galactic war to take Earth back. The universe of Mass Effect expands with the addition of new co-op multiplayer missions, playable over Xbox Live, PSN and PC internet. Players can choose from a variety of classes and races, form an elite Special Forces squad, and combine their weapons, powers and abilities to devastating effect as they fight together to liberate key territories from enemy control. Success in multi-player will have a direct impact on the outcome of the single player campaign, giving players an alternative method of achieving ultimate victory against the greatest threat mankind – and the entire galaxy – has ever faced.

The key to saving the galaxy is the "Galactic Readiness" level, measured by Commander Shepard's ability to apply every possible asset – people, weapons, resources, armies, fleets – in the final battle against the Reapers. Players can impact their game's Galactic Readiness level in multiple ways via the Mass Effect 3: Galaxy at War system, including multiplayer. Other platforms and interfaces will be announced in the coming months.

Separate campaign sounds cool to me. What do you guts think?

So you won't be using your character or any of your crew? Just random members of various species for Spec-Ops- style co-op mode... I'm both relieved and disappointed. I never played Mass Effect. And I promised my brother that if ME3 had co op I'd play through both of the early games and we'd go through the third one together. Since the co op doesn't involve Shepherd, I won't have to buy more than the one game.

At first I was worried, but now I'm extremely interested. If it will affect the single player, day one play with my fiance.

EA is killing Bioware. Since EA took over, Bioware has been much more about making games that they think will sell well rather than games that are amazing single player story driven games. Dragon Age 2 hardly had a story compared to Dragon Age, ME2's story was much worse than ME1's, and I highly doubt that the MMO star wars will have anywhere near as good a story as KOTOR. Now ME3 is going to have co-op, which will apparently affect the single player experience? I really wish they would just focus on the single player and finish the ME series on the high note it deserves.

It wasn't when I posted this. FYI:!: I am glad I could bring you to actually speak in these forums, though. Even if you never seem to post on the actual topics.

What do you guts think?HilbillyRokstar

I'm not sure I understand the question. :|

I think its awesome that they've added co-op to one of my favorite franchises! I'm stoked that they didn't add a competitive TDM mode to it. I feel that would have taken away from what this series is built on.

Weepin' creepin' Jesus! Every time I see you post it devolves into a Last Word contest! Even back in the days when I liked to poke at Jaysonguy I never followed him around the way you follow this guy- I've been watching it all day. Find a less creepy fixation, dude. Seriously.

I don't understand why everygame has to have multiplayer now. I loved ME1 & 2, and don't think there is any need for co-op. If it was main story line co-op, I think that might be kind of cool. The host plays as Shepherd and everyone else in the game can choose a team member to play as, with the attributes they've developed for that team member in their own game. But this weird, second-hand, potentially campaign-affecting co-op just seems out of place. I feel like it's going to be an additional game mode that the devs will have to focus on, that will potentially take away from the finished product. ME2 didn't have as good of a story as ME1, and now I'm worried they're adding too much and ME3 will be even worse.

To me though, the whole point of the Mass Effect series is beingcommander Shepherd. Based on the narrative, you aren't simply controlling a character, you arethe character. So in my eyes being able to play as other characters will reduce the immersive feel and detract from the overall narrative.

I'm excited that they are making it co-op.

I just hope we see something more creative than horde style survival missions.

Could potentially be really cool.

Still, I'm really just looking forward to playing the single player.

It's completely optional, and BioWare Edmonton has handed development duty on the mode off to BioWare Montreal, meaning work on the single-player campaign won't be impacted. No worries.
