i just bought a new Samsung LCD tv yesterday, and today i wanted to try out forza to check the differences because i was used to an old tv hah .

anyways - as i dont have a HDMI xbox, i'm stuck with 720P which is already, except one issue, i can't turn of the widescreen?! i can't change it, and i cant edit the screen size enough so the picture will be "normal", i mean, the cars in forza just looks wierd, Audi TT looks like a muffin :(

can anybody help me out? because i can't play forza or any other car games like this :(

you cant turn widescreen off on 720 & 1080 resolutions because they are widescreen resoloutions. so if you bought a hdtv that has a 4:3 screen then you are going to have this problem with every hd tv game or film you play. because they arnt meant to make 4:3 hdtvs because the hdtv resoloutions are all 16:9 if your having the problem then you can get the vga lead and use the 4:3 screen resolotions to get a hd resolotion graphics but at 4:3 but most games will just letter box the screen so its still widescreen but because ur screens not widescreen you will get 2 big thick letterbox black bands top and bottom of the screen so everything stays at the correct aspect ratio. im with kozzy on my widescreen hdtv forza looks class.

i could via my cellphone, if i had my girlfriends laptop :( but she's not around, so we're going to do it the cheap way lol d:

imagine this:

with 480P and normal NOT widescreen setting

On my background on the dashboard, i got this hot big breastet woman which sort of fill the most of the left side of the screen and her head can just barely be within the screen (my english aint so good so i hope you can follow)

with 480P and WIDESCREEN selected OR 720P/1080I setting

The woman has gotten .. big, and her forehead (hope it's translated correct) is not in the screen, mean she has gotten too BIG to be in the screen, she also no fills a little more then the left side of the screen only.

when does it ask for widescreen?

whenever i change the setting it ask me about if i choose the right setting (if i dont choose within 10 seconds it changes back to normal) after that it ask about testing the screen for 50Hz support.

Sorry, i don't think you can for 720 or 1080. Only 420 allows you to change from widescreen to 4:3

i mean, not so long ago i could change the setting if i wanted to have it in 50 or 60Hz on a friends SDTV, now i can't find that anywhere.. :/

thanks, i'll probaly be needing that VGA cable then, i'll head down in the local media store tomorrow and check it out then.

btw - i'm playing call of duty right now, and when i get up close on things, it doesn't look that good it looks smashed out to be honest, maybe it's always been like that or could the VGA cable help ? or maybe there is something i need to turn off/on or adjust? :)

720 and 1080 resolutions are native widescreen resolutions, there is no way to set them to normal aspect ratio.

I dont know what your doing wrong. Basically the 360 needs to have the following done:

turn the av output to HD instead of SD

go to the system dashboard and go to your display settings and choose which resoultion (its always best to use the tv's native resolution)If you do 480 you can do 4:30 or 16:9 but if you do 720O, 1080i or 1080P it MUST be 16:9

Thats it. There should be no further settings done on the xbox. If your picture looks like crap after that its not a xbox problem, its your tv. It doesnt mean your TV is broken but a lot of tv's require you to tweak the settings to get the best picture. Get your user manual and start trying to figure out how to adjust the tv.

You have a widescreen tv. Why would you want to turn off the widescreen? Just leave it alone, your TV has a native resolution of 1366 x 768 which is 720p. The 360 is displaying it how it should be if you have it hooked up through component ahd have it switched to HD and set to 720p. I don't know what your issue is but you sure don't need to turn the widescreen off, and getting the vga cable may make the picture a little clearer, but it won't fix an aspect ration problem, your TV should be set to 16:9 and your XBOX should be set to 720p WIDESCREEN, anyone who says different doesn't know what they're talking about.

Yeah this is kinda silly. Your TV, the samsung LE32S8, is definitely (according to the product details) a 720p display HD ready.

My understanding is you want a 4:3 (normal, square setting), which means you need to go to display on 360 and set it to 480p normal, then you must take "zoom" off your hdtv and set it to "full screen/normal".

If I were You, however, I'd want the screen setting at 16:9, 720p on 360 widescreen (since your set supports it) and I would set the hdtv to "full screen" or "fit" or "normal" view, those display options for your tv should be on the tv or remote itself.

720p / 16:9 widescreen > 480p / 4:3 normal

guys please, your talking to me if i'm some sort of retard ..

All i'm saying is that the cars in Forza doesn't look right in 720P with tv settings on 16:9, it just looks lame, but i'll have my girl friend so take her laptop with her tonight, so i can show you how bad it is.

I can't stand playing forza with my Audi TT looking like an oversized hamster.

I've set the switch on HD from SD.

TV is set to 16:9.

Xbox is set to 720P.

I've gotten the blue, rd and green component cable in.

I'v tryed reading the user manual with no luck at all.

Call of Duty seems to play fine, but not forza and i doubt it's the game itself, i havent gotten any other car games but i can try and download some demo's of other car games and maybe even forza.

Right now, i'll try and go to the media store of which i bought the tv from and see if they have an answer.

And yes i am very well aware of that this is 2008 and not 2004, but if half of you would've bothered reading all of the post, you might've actually come up with something constructive, or posted nothing at all.

If you dont want it to be in widescreen, go to the back of the xbox and switch it to SD instead of HD, then go to settings and put them to what to what they were before you got your new TV.I dont know how a Audi TT would look like a muffin, but maybe your settings were always screwed up, and now that you are seeing them correctly it looks worse to you....maybe...either way try what I said

i know how an audi tt is supposed to look alike d:

anyways -i went out to the store of which i've bought the tv in, after talking to 4 of the employee's we decided that i should go bring my xbox into the store and see if it would do the same thing there.

It worked like it should on exactly the same tv, so i had to go home with my xbox and check the settings once again on my tv.

The settings was the same so i decided i couldn't bother anymore and tbh i really wanted the R series more so i switched my LE32S86 to and LE32R86 model, tbh i'm much more satisfied with the tv i've gotten now and best of all, the cars in forza looks like they should :)

I'm not sure what was wrong the the first tv i had, but i couldn't care less now, my guess it that it either was broken or i've **** some of the settings up big time lol d:
