Wouldn't it be funny if in the end Blu-Ray beat HD-DVD and Xbox 360 was forced to get a Blu-Ray player.

What are your thoughts?

Personally I prefer Blu-Ray mainly because it has a cooler name :) and all the technical stuff too ;)

It would take too long for Microsoft to develop and produce a Blu Ray player, so I think they'll just probably stick with HD-DVD no matter what happens.

becasue Sony (PS3) make Blu-Rays while Microsoft help make HD-DVDs, and it would be like giving in to it

It wouldn't hurt MS at all. What if Blue Ray disappeared and then PS3s became useless because games could no longer be made for it. Now that would be funny.

Well it could hurt microsoft as they would be kinda selling Sonys Products for them. But if the HD-DVD won then the PS3 would be so owned it would be funny! lol

Microsoft will create a BluRay player add on for the 360 if it ends up being the winner when the dust settles. That was part of the strategy all along. They will not release this as long as there is some fight left in HD-DVD though.

Blu-Ray is used for games regardless of how it does in the movie industry :|

What's really funny is the fact of the matter is that NEITHER are selling well at all as far as movies go. The media for electronics makes them out to be battling when the real battle is still for either of them to survive against standard DVDs.

thats a fair point, but DVD will slowly edge out. After seeing a picture like this, i wouldn't want to go back http://www.saitti.org/images/HD-DVD-BUP.jpg

I download all the movies I want to see it HD from the marketplace. Yeah it takes a while, but it is just as fast as online rental places like netflix, and I didn't have to pay for any extra equipment to watch the movies. I know the whole "It's only 720p, only the actual discs can give you 1080p, blah blah blah..." argument, but I don't have 1080p anyway so it doesn't matter to me.
