because now that the HD war is over i can get a player... dont want to pay 500 bucks for a blue ray player and 400 for a 360 that can do the same thing by the end of the year

They'll probably do it as an add on though, so existing customers can purchase one
Herd something about this, is it true? i would hate to hold out for one.. Thinking about getting a 360 for ninja gaiden 2 and halo 3andrewsonfireDoubt it will happen this Generation, but i wouldn't be surprised on next,in about 2 years time.

Dont worry-No way there will be a 360 with built in blu ray by the end of this year or even the end of 2009[QUOTE="andrewsonfire"][QUOTE="fenwickhotmail"]No real news, but why does this change your decision of buying the console?

Dont worry-No way there will be a 360 with built in blu ray by the end of this year or even the end of 2009MS would be shooting themselves in the foot if they didn't, at the very least, do an add-on to the 360. If people are still on the fence about which console to get, the blu-ray capability might just push people towards the PS3. I currently own a 360. If I had to pick a console I knew for sure that MS wasn't going to add blu-ray, i'd spend the slightly extra cash and get the PS3 for the added movie capability.
Officially the answer is no, there will be no BluRay player for the 360. However, if there is, then the following will be true:
1.) It will be an add-on, like the HD-DVD player, and,
2.) It will only be used for movies and not games, like the HD-DVD player.
In other words, even if MS does go down the BluRay path in the future, you have no reason not to get a 360 now.

agreed. It's not likely they'll release a xbox 360 with a built in blu-ray player because it would divide their consumer base. Some could play blu-ray based games and others couldn't. Likely to be an add on.
uumm BS!

Probably, thats why I said 'apprently'. That news came straight from Sony, and we all know what they are like for telling the truth. MS, of course, denied it.
I'm personally keeping an open mind... i doubt MS would want to hand Sony sales by not supporting the next gen disc media. I also think Sony would want to keep a hold of their trump card, since an add-on for Xbox would cost a fraction of the price of a PS3 or blu ray player. I also kind of think that, simply, MS won't admit they were wrong...'We want to focus on digital distro'. Thats the BS. If thats the case, what was all the promices about true HD, and releaseing the HD DVD add-on in the first place? Why are Xbox Live video downloads only 720p? Why can HDMI-Elite owners get 1080p?
Don't get me wrong, I'm not a Sony fan boy, and to be honest, I don't really care about HD movies right now. There's just something wrong with what MS promiced, and what they are saying now. Don't forgoet the MS motto, 'If we can sell it, we'll buy it'

Sony has stated that microsoft hasnt approached them in hopes of a blu-ray deal. IM NOT SURE OF THIS I MIGHT BE MISTAKEN
I THINK heard this sometime in February or January .
Last thing I read about it was this.
The HDDVD war is over, and BR has one. In light of this, Toshiba has officialy discontinued making its add on HD DVD player for the X360, (someone told me you can but one now for $50 because of this)
MS, has been talking with Sony, and an add on BR for the X360 could be available within 3 months, and BR in the consoles themselves could be here within a year.
