If HD DVD doesn't grabsignificant market share this holiday season, it will lose along with Blu-Ray. So far the consumer has chosen DVD and not HD DVD or Blu-Ray.
BTW Amazon is including 8 HD DVDs with the 360 HD DVD add-on.
[QUOTE="R-Dot-Yung"]No, i really dont think Blu Ray is going to lose, it just doesnt make sense with all the support/PS3's out thereedflam311You need more than people buying ps3 (and not many at that) for a new storage format to succeed.
Indeed. However, Blu Ray has 6/8 major studio support while HD DVD has 3/8. Also, DVD adoption rate was slow initially although PS2 helped boom this. Finally Blu Ray is out selling HD 2 to 1 regardless of HD DVD head start. No matter how you look at it, PS3 with 4 million units sold while be a major impact. Finally, look at the shelf space Blu Ray is getting. At all Walmarts Blu Ray will get 2 times the space as HD DVD. You may be thinking that Walmart is not where someone buys Blu Ray or whatever but the bottom line is Walmart sets trends for others to follow. It is what it is.
imo, blu-ray & hd-dvd is over rated (although very nice, but VERY expen$ive)...all you need is an upconverting dvd player with 1.3hdmi (like the ps3) & a PLASMA hdtv to enjoy the regular dvd's you already have like you haven't before...it doesn't get much better !
until one or both HD formats are certain to be around & the price becomes more affordable...i'll gladly continue to enjoy standard dvd's as mentioned above!
