Borderlands Reviews....

Really looking forward to this game but wanted to first read a few reviews....

Please post reviews as soon as they come out (any idea when they will come out?)

I'm anxious to see more reviews too, I think they'll be pretty good, like in the 8-9 range meaning the game is great but alot a critics will find something they don't like.

There are two reviews out now. OXM gave it an 8.5 and Atomic MPG gave it a 9.1.

I think one has been leaked (Xbox Magazine or something) It got an 8.5. I have this game on preorder and am totally psyched for it.

Nope, I haven't seen the entire article. Someone put up some quotes from it at the official Borderlands forums but they weren't allowed to quote the whole thing because of copyright issues. Here are the two threads from the Borderlands forums where the two reviews were discussed:

Yeah, I really want to see some more reviews from more credible sources.

OXM would have given Borderlands a 9 if it was exclusive, so they have no authority.

The other mag I have never even heard of, so I am not sure how much weight their reviews carry. Also, they were clearly reviewing the PC version.

Seeing Dead space got a 6.0 from OXM Borderlands must have been pretty awesome to get close to 9.0.

Yeah im ready to get my copy of this game. Just went and paid the rest of it off. The i just finished reading OXM review of it. Can't wait only 3 more days to go.

Eh, PC version might have more features. But more people are going to be buying the 360 version, so there will be more people to play with. Also, it's cheaper on console.dlindenb2000

The only extra feature on the PC version is a fully mouse controlled menu allowing you to grab loots by clicking items, equipping weapons, etc, etc, you know like a real MMORPG.

@mitu: i'll check that out.

So far, I'm loving this game. Good leadup to MW2 and I'll look forward to leveling up in the future. Sig for proof.

Multiplayer looks a blast! Omg.

Pc Gamer UK gave Borderlands a 86% which is supposed to be good from them because they are tough and never go over 94%. Here's a link to a thread where their review was summarized.

Also included is a SDK for custom mods and such, and export of your guns in game to share with others. Far as people calling me out on the price, 360/PS3 version is 40ca here in Canada, compared to the cheapest price for the PC version being 45us on Steam. 7 Bucks isn't much, but it's still cheaper.

eh. Gonna pick some time after the price goes way down. =-)

New Borderlands review from PlaystationUniversity.com. They didn't give the game a score but here is their conclusion:

"Borderlands only true downfall has to be the fact that it's stuck releasing between Uncharted 2 and Modern Warfare 2. If this was releasing in an off-month like June or July, it would receive praise and Game of the Year notions in terms of quality of play; however, due to its release schedule, it may get mixed in the gray of other GOTY-worthy candidates. It also doesn't help that Borderlands is geared more towards the hardcore gamer opposed to the casual player. Those enjoying the aspects of grindings those levels out in co-op or solo mode will enjoy Borderlands for everything it is…those who don't, should probably rent it first. As for me, I'm a hardcore gamer and feel Borderlands is worth every penny and then some – especially once Zombie Island is released. Bring on the pain!"

i was hoping IGN would review this game by friday/saturday but no luck instead they reviewed SmackDownVsRaw2010. but ive been waiting for Borderlands for so long that ima get it no matter what scores it gets.

Another review - 4/5 from Just Push Start. This one wasn't as good, it's not well written and I take issue with some of the problems the reviewer found. He said the game "recycles" elements from other games; well, all games do. He also said the game isn't realistic; it was never supposed to be and it doesn't have to be - it's a video game after all.

I don't get why they are taking off points for this, it never meant to be realistic in first place + its an RPG that would be stupid if enemies died in 1 shot in the head. :|

looks like that reviewer forgot he wasn't playing COD :|

mass effect had the same type of problem when it was being reviewed. Alot of people reviewed the game under the mindset that mass effect is a shooter 1st and an RPG 2nd and ended up running into alot of problems when talking about the combat. For example: a reviewer complained about not getting any kills with the sniper not even knowing that he picked a ****that wasnt skilled with that gun. He/she then went on complaining how unrealistic the game was and took off points because of it.

Kotaku review - they don't give a score, these guys are known for being harsh, still a positive review overall though. i thought he contradicted himself a bit by saying the game can be both addicting and boring.

Boring and addictive aren't contradictions really. Boring and fun are. Lots of parts of World of Warcraft are incredibly boring (any kind of farming) but overall its incredibly addictive.

The game is probably fun when you are really playing it, but very boring when you are just travelling. Overall its addictive.

Yeah i just watched the review and 8.8 is a good score for this game. I cant wait to get my copy tomorrow. :)

IGN just gave it a 8.8. I'm debating on whether to get the game or not. I don't want to pay $60 for it since it's just the same campaign and their "multiplayer" is the same campaign with 3 more players, lol.
