So I just bought the new 360 slim (250GB version). I have it all set up and it works fine but I can't seem to get any sound to work. No sound is coming out of the headset when connected to my controller and no sound from my computer speakers.

I have the 360 connected to my computer monitor through a generic HDMI cord.

My computer monitor is a LG W2361V-PF series. A widescreen that supports HD 1080p (yes, its set for 1080p on my xbox, don't know if that matters.) I don't believe that there's any speakers built into the monitor either.

So, why is there no sound coming out of the headset when its connected to my controller? Thanks in advance.

I don't have a slim, so i'm not sure, but check the system settings to make sure you dont have to tell it to send sound via hdmi

Only voice chat comes throught the headset. If your monitor does not have speakers then that is probably why you are not hearing any sound.

If you are using HDMI, your monitor probably doesn't have any sound sytem. You will need to plug in the AV cable and use the Red and White RCA stereo cables for sound in your speakers of coice. If your input isn't RCA, you must buy an RCA to whatever (probably 3.5mm) adapter. A better option would be optical sound for surround sound, but I'm guessing you don't have a surround sound amp next to your computer monitor.

Didn't realize that the headset given was merely for voice. Makes sense now. I plugged the speaker jack into my monitor's headphone jack and that worked for external sound. Thank you for the help.

Game sound is working fine now, but the mic that plugs into my wireless controller doesn't seem to pick up my voice. I'm not muted and volume is at 10. Any idea? I can hear other people but they can't hear me.

There should be a switch. Green is for talking, and red/orange is for.. Not allowing any players talk trash about them.
