Brand new 360 froze up... normal?

I just got a 360 yesterday and had only had it on for 20 minutes playing my first game when it froze. Is this something I should be worried about with a brand new 360?! I mean I've had my other systems freeze up after awhile before so normally I wouldn't be concerned, but after reading about the RROD so much... (btw this IS a new falcon model) And yeah I do have it in a well ventilated place.HazeVJ

It probably isn't "normal", but as you'll soon learn with machine, there really isn't a *normal*.

Now if you were to ask me if I am surprised by this happening, not at all. :lol:

that sucks, I bought mine yesterday too, it's a new falcon model too (lot # 808 ). I haven't opened it yet since I'm studying for finals and I know if I hook it up and can kiss that goodbye.

I bought my 360 way back on launch date and got it home and it froze several times.

I wouldn't pay it any attention because, although it did red ring, it lasted for a good two years.

Just don't expect it to last forever, lol.. because eventually it will tear up. Everyone I have know with a 360 has had theirs **** out on them eventually. Good thing is that Microsoft has a decent repair program (at least it worked out well for me, other than the fact that the person I had to deal with on the phone couldn't speak a word of decent english) where you can get it repaired and shipped back to you for free, and it only took about two weeks.

BTW, I don't think the new Falcon models are much better than the old ones. At least as far as being more durable.

I have a friend who bought one and at first the disc tray wouldn't open.. then it just red ringed. He only had it for a month, lol. But hey, at least you got a snazzy, black console with a bigger storage.

why aren't they just fixing the problem and being done with it, or are they making money off of repairing these things too?

Haha actually no I got the premium so I don't even have that. But damn, that sucks that they didn't improve things much with the Falcon. Too bad the 360 has all the games I care to play.

Hmm well I'm not returning mine and waiting until August (too impatient, lol) but I guess if mine does die then I can send it in for repair and then trade it in for one of the new ones. Assuming they actually ARE better.

might have a hard time trading it in (assuming you mean exchanging it) since the upc or sku would be different (not sure which it is) but yeah I'm with ya on the impatient part haha.

thats very admirable, actually. lol. ive got such a problem putting my game playing aside to do work.

but as for the tc, i have a new 360, too, and i havent encountered that problem yet.

Damn that scares me. Well it's working fine today so maybe I'll just wait and see how things go.
