I just got my xbox 360 elite the other day, and i was playing online with the headset that came with the 360, but i couldnt hear anything out of the headset. The volume is turned up. And also my headset looks different than other peoples because at the bottom of the headset looks like a normal headphone jack instead of the one that you can mute and turn up at the bottom where you plug up at, its volume and mute button is like on the cord. Also when you plug up your headset, isnt there suppose to be a icon on the dashboard that indacates if the headset is plugged up? If so mines doesnt show. I made sure its on, but i could be wrong. Is there anything wrong with my headset?

you need to go to family settings and change it so you can hear and speak to people.

Also, your headset isn't different that everyone's. The one you have is the newer model where as the one with the controls on the plug is about 2 years old now.

I don't understand why they did away with the delta plug-in mic seeing as it was better IMHO.

yeah and make sure that in your personal settings on the xbox guide that the voice volume is turned up so you can hear, and to answer another question no there is no indication that a wired mic is plugged to your controller

also most of the newer xbox 360 wired headsets all have the controls on the wire rather then attached to the plug, reason for this I believe is to still be able to use it on 3rd party controllers and with other accessories like the chatpad in which case the old connectors would not connect to

That makes sense why the did away with the old mics. I forgot about the chatpad.
