I have recently been seriously considering buying a xbox 360 and i was wondering if now is the best time to buy or should i wait for maybe an upgraded version of the xbox (hdmi ect)? I have trouble convincing my parents to buy anything game wise after we bought a ps2 and 3 weeks later the price dropped and the new slim came out but anyways what do u think?

buy the 360 now the price drop wont happen for awhile and all the best games are coming out this year

I got mine today, my opinion is that you could spend forever waiting. The V2 360 is not going to be so different that people with it have an advantage. get one now mate.

It's really up to you! You can buy now and have the pleasure of playing the hoards of great games out for the 360, or you can play them later with the HDMI 360, it really depends what you'd personally like to do. If you aren't going to use the HDMI and are fine with HD, then buy now as the price won't go down significantly until early 2008 probably.

ya really it was the hdmi thing that i was curious about cuz i already have a cable for my dvd player and tvs that have hdmi

Earlierst price drop would be Xmas '07. And I think it's just going to be 2008.

Look, everybody thinks price drops happen because of time. They don't. They happen because of poor sales only. If the PS3 was priced at $ 400 then the X360 would see a price drop because it would reduce sales. Since the PS3 is not even close in the range of the X360 and the X360 is selling very well, there is really no need for them to lower the price.

I think in a year or so, X360 sales will go down a tiny bit, maybe the PS3 witnesses a price drop because it's selling not so well around that time. And that's when the X360 is going to have a price drop.

Just buy one now. Get Gears.

EDIT: Oh, just in case get it at a store that gives a warranty of some sort which allows you to return the machine when a new machine is launched or the price is dropped within like a month. I usually get it at stores that do that. If I bought the X360 for € 400 and suddenly in a couple of weeks the price dropped to € 350, I get € 50 returned. If a new version is launched, I can trade it in for that. Don't know if they have that where you live though.
