People under 18 shouldn't be playing games rated M. It's dangerous for minors to see images like the ones in violent videogames, it's dangerous for their development and the fact that the mercy is in the power of your hands can really effect some one and confuse them with their role in reality. If your 16 then you don't need to be playing M games, it's not right.FireKicksummm their mature, not adult. They are usually just violent and theres worse on network television or PG13 movies, i think that they need one more rating for 15 years though, i mean i could easily see allowing a 15 yearold halo when splinter cell can be just as bad at only T, that is actually killing people. Maybe an LT (Late Teen) would be addition.
M is such a broad term if you ask me. Halo isno more offensive than Fire Fly or Star Wars, but games like Grand Theft Auto really earn ther M rating.
As for buying M games you need to be 17 at most places. I never played many M games when I was younger since I knew my father would destory my consloes if he ever found out.
I'm 16 and I have never gotten checekd for ID. At EB I usually go in, ask the clerk for the game and thats it. My parents don't care either, they've watched me play tons of counter-strike and other games like that.

You really beat me to it. M is far too broad. Halo games are barely M if at all. To give it the same rating as GTA, Manhunt, or The Suffering is very inaccurate.

I'm 16 and i play M-rated games all the time (I find them to be more fun than most T- and E- rated games) and you don't see me on TV shooting the hell out of everything. I, like most people, can tell the difference between real life and video games.

I believe he/she was being sarcastic :|
yeah no kidding. Putting ratings on video games is absurb.
"dangerous to their development, confusing what is reality"Serious?? I recall playing a known, very popular and violent game a decade ago called Mortal Kombat. WOW, I can't believe it but I made it through college with straight A's and have a successful career in the semiconductor industry. My mind isn't so warped from the years of playing violent games that I'm even considering going back to school to study law. I suppose that means I was just one of the lucky few to play a video game without developing a mental disorder and going on a rampage because I'am capable of differentiating reality from fiction. Every case that went to court to blame video game industries for violence due to ones actions failed.
"if your 16 then you don't need be playing M games, it's not right" Hey guess what?? That rating actually means nothing due to experience changing during online play. Laymen's term...anybody can drop the f-bomb in any game that has player interaction. BTW if it's not right at the age of 16....two years from being an independent adult... to view the slightest mature content, then you should also blindfold your children. Don't let them watch television or read anything. Date or hang out with a friend because, oh they might be a bad influence. Just keep them under house arrest until 18.
I have better idea instead of this Kim Jong-il mentality....how about let kids be kids and not turn into a socialistic mamby pamby country. It was such a great period in my youth when I could ride a bike without a helmet and play a ball game where their actually was a winning and losing team. How ironic that under 18 individuals aren't allowed to commit such evil doings for playing a video game, but yet they actually have higher interests at that teen age with members of the opposite chromosome.

let me know when you get off your soapbox.
I got carded at Best Buy when I bought Bioshock and I was paying with a credit card. Look jerkoff, if I have my own credit card, I think I'm old enough to play an M rated game.
I say it depends who you are talking to,if its someone cool and you dont look like a 12 yr old kid then they prob wont ask you for your age if its one of those dip **** workers then they prob will askMemoryitis
Theres nothing cool about not doing your job correctly
I'm 17 years old now. So it's no big deal for me. But when I was 16, I do believe it was kind of lame to be able to drive the the store, but then get turned down like a young kid or whatever. Getting my parents to go to the store with me was a bit lame.
That said, I found that FYE never checks for ID. Even now. I'm not sure if you were younger, maybe they will, but not if you look atleast like, 15.
Still, if you are trying to get around your parents finding out, then you are defintely not as cool as you think.
