Is it a bad idea to buy a xbox 360 from ebay because they are known for malfunctioning. If you do get the rrod is the only way to return it is by having warrenty from the shop you bought it from? or if i buy one from ebay and it breaks can i still send it to microsoft?

Thanks

I wouldn't buy it from eBay... you're much better off getting a new one warranty-wise

You can still return them to microsoft for free RROD repair under their 3 year warranty if things go wrong. You don't need a receipt. Check the build date before you buy and register/re-register the s/n on xbox.com (incase it is already registered to someone else) and you should be fine. This won't help with any other faults but you should be protected against 3 RROD.

I run a pawn shop and pay my staff £20 for each RROD they send back, so i know for fact that you can send them in. In fact one of my staff has returned over 20 and now gets UPS to pick up and drop of at store.

But the fact does remain that second hand is more unreliable (15% of our, tested and working, secondhand 360's get returned within our 60 day warranty period)
