[RANT] From PCs to Plasma TV to Video Cameras, Digital Cameras, Cars, iPods, DVD players, refrigerators, washing machines, microwave ovens, cell phones, usb drives etc. you name it, the 360 is by far the least reliable product I ever had! I know there are much worse stories than mine, I'm still at my 3rd (when I get it back) but every time I start the 360 I'm praying it doesn't blow up... seriously! X360 # 1 > Got 2005-12-26 > Manuf 2005-10-13 X360 # 2 > Got 2006-09-02 > Manuf 2006-03-01 X360 # 3 > WTF!!! I'm so freakin pissed with this crappy manufacturing !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love the 360 "when it works" and love the games too BUT it's By far the worst product i ever bought and i thought the Ford Taurus was freakin bad, now the 360 is on top of the list. I'm sooooooooooooo pissed... now wait for that freakin UPS coffin, last time took 2+ weeks to get to me because of some yahoo at support!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I guess getting a Dell XPS for 3K is now an option to consider after going through all this s***! To all the losers who are going to reply by saying stupid things, STFU and unlucky my a**! [/RANT]

I am not planning on saying anything of the sort. I'll simply say you have a right to be upset and I would be too in your shoes. At least your box was under warranty each time right? But the bottom line is that you are correct that you should be able to expect to have a toy that works for the price you pay for a 360. This is an area that MS is weak in and I hope they improve on. Fortunately, they have done a lot of other things well this generation.

I know what you are saying. It's such a good system, i just hope my 3rd one lasts. Get ready for people to tell you its your fault the 360's broke.

trust me when i say this: dont buy a dell xps lol if you have 3 grand, you could easily build a computer five times better than what ever they give you for that price. i just built one for about 1,700 and the exact same computer would have cost me 2250 + from dell. and once you get your other 360, it should work fine, after all, third times a charm. :]

Rant accepted. I also realize you feel the need to vent some frustration, but these threads are getting so annoying. Anyways, hope you finally luck out with your next 360.

actually, it is probably ur fault as well ( not trying to be mean) because the 360 does tend to get hot.  so u need to find a spot for it or just get a fan stand or intercooler.  Ever since i got my fan stand i havnt needed another 360 since.

No Ford on Earth is more reliable than the 360. Other than that, I'm sorry to hear about your loss(es). I'm on my first console still, but I know a bummer when I see one. And that's a real bummer, dude.

My 360 got the r3 red lights about 2 weeks ago, and only yesterday did UPS come to pick it up. Kinda hoping that it comes back and it works forever more but I'm not holding my breath after hearing of problems other people have had. So I have some sympathy, though I've not had nearly as bad an experience (yet)

Well... I had 3 PS2, I can assure you that THAT was the worst hardware of all times,

With the worst warranty ever. I never got it replaced,  even if it was clearly that piece of junk

they called lens (I had them replaced from the seller, luckily)... I had problems twice with my  XBox360, and I

had it replaced with a new one both times (and not with a regenerated one) in a matter of days... My

XBox360 has now a year.

Considering that each of my PS2 had 5 months when it died :)...

I feel your pain man.  I am on my 3rd 360 and this one has a mind of it's own.  I have to race to put a game in the drive cause it closes on it's own and doesn't want to open after it closes.  I just pray I don't get anymore red lights.

It is imo aswell the most unreliable machine ever, I have had 2 break with the same problem, and Microsoft confirmed they were not user error but a fault with the machine. I didnt play them that long, they were on a desk, the power pack was on a desk, it had loads of space for ventilation.............and it still broke twice........

I have never had any problems with mine. The power pack is on my desk out of sight behind my monitor and the 360 is on my window sill so it is always only warm to the touch.

Neither my friends nor I have ever had to send away our xbox's ever.  That includes most of us who bought our system at launch.  I think it has a lot to do with how you store your xbox, how long you leave your xbox on and how often you take your xbox over to peoples homes t play there or travel with.  I definetly "baby" my system but I would do this to anything that I had to pay over 400 dollars for.

The only reason why the 360 has so much hardware failures is because of the heat. You really just have to keep it cool. I'm on my second 360.

When the percentage of people who did have problemss is so elevated and whatever u say IT IS it is right to blame maniifacturing and to the original poster : I totally agree with you i feel totally dumb for not doing anything about it. 360 is a wanderful system but there is no doubt that all this tech problems are disgusting and MS is dealing with it THE WRONG WAY. Just to bring an example i had my Wii mote not working properly (rumble did not kick in) so when i called Nintendo they SENT ME A REPLACWEMET RIGHT AWAY and what i had to do was giving my credit card number and if i did not send the older Wii mote they would have charged me for the replacement...how much better is that that having to wait over a month to get your system back ?

I must be the luckiest person in the world. I've seen a countless number of threads like this, and had 3 of my buddies who own 360's have to send them out for repair. I got my 360 on launch day n haven't had a problem yet (Fingers Crossed)...

Do not under any circumstances buy an intercooler or a fan that runs off the power supply of your 360 because it does not help the problem! The intercooler might blow air into your system, but what is that going to do when your system is using more power and working harder because it is running two devices off the same power supply? Besides, just make sure the area is well ventilated and you should be fine. But to TC, good luck with your new 360 I understand your frustration.8)
