Call of Duty 4 multiplayer question

I'm kinda interested in call of duty 4, everyone says it's an awesome game, so i'm planning on buying it. But before i do, i just wanna know something.

How is multiplayer? Can I play campaign co-op on one xbox? Can i play with 2+ players on one xbox online (for ex. halo 3 lets you have guests and you can play social matches)? Can you make parties?

I'm just wondering because i have a brother and we usually play together anr/or have friends over and play with them.

The campaign isn't bad. I enjoyed it, but it's damned short. Compared to the first Call of Duty (on PC only) though, it's horrible. That goes for Call of Duty 2 also. The series died abruptly after United Offensive (CoD 1 expansion pack).

I don't know how things are on the xbox 360 version, but Infinity Ward, being the idiots they are, completely destroyed the multiplayer aspect in CoD 4 with patches. The game is damn near impossible to play online now because every server has your ping at 200+ (when the game first came out, I found it damn near impossible to find a server below 100 ping. After patch 1.4, the game was completely destroyed -- thus officially labeling Infinity Ward as the dumbest company to ever have developed a game).

No Co-op.
Yes local play.
Yes parties.
Yes Sexy MP.
