its called having different taste. the most popular game on earth will always have a few people that dont like it. i think its pretty fun but i dont play it as much as most people(usually like 3-4 hours a week)

Dude, TOTALLY what he just said. You can't rent a game and get an opinion from the first few hours of play. If I'd done that with Mass Effect, I would have said that was pretty average!
It's not overrated. You didn't give it a good enough chance, or you got dominated and you're mad. Rent it again and play the Multiplayer on Xbox Live for a few days. Then come back and tell us what you thought.
If you still don't like it fair enough. Everyone has their opinion.
and i bet the dude who wrote this loved halo 2...... call of duty 4 might be the best shooter to come out since the original halo.... if you want to call any game "overrated" it should be halo 3..... did anyone even play the single player campaign??
Single Players good for one run through, to linear and scripted to hold my interest for a second run through.
The multiplayers ok, most people like it because of the simple reward system and solid and fast gameplay. Depending on your tastes(do you like a more instagiby game or a non-instagiby game) its about equally as good in Multiplayer as Halo or Rainbow Six.

i kind of agree w/ this guy. i find it to be an average war shooter. and yes i'v played both single player and online MP, and i don't see what the big deal is either.
I own the game and have played through the single player twice and about 15 hours of multiplayer. It's a fun game no doubt about it but I don't really consider it one of the best games ever made. Then again I tend to favour games with great storylines and while COD4 has a pretty decent story for a war shooter it still isn't on the level of a KOTOR or a Half-Life 2.
