i dont get why this and halo 3 dont run in HD
This topic is locked from further discussion.
It's probably to keep the framerate a smooth jitter free 60 fps the entire game.
Also, there is no screen tearing which means they have vsync turned on.
They probably had a 720p version running but the slight improvement in graphics wasn't worth the sacrifice in tearing or slowdown.
The 360 is powerful, but any game can bring a system to its knees if not optimized correctly. I look at the 600p choice as one of optimization for the sake of preserving gameplay. And since COD4 looks way better than Halo 3 and even some other 720p games I'm sure most don't care what it renders at.
[QUOTE="TraXxX"]It doesnt really matter , the game still looks amazing.thoma7500
i know thats the main thing
I was very impressed by the graphics.
I still am.

I agree. :)
I run it in 1080p and I noticed some jaggies assuming it was light anti-aliasing. I don't know. If it was only opimized for 600p and every other game (like Assassin's Creed, Mass Effect and Gears of War) runs up to 1080p, Infinity Ward has some issues optimizing games. A nice group of gamers play on TVs that run that.Wicked_Spades
Yeah I noticed that also. Mainly in the crates lol but who cares about crates. Lol
GOD!@$%@$%^%^#$%&^&*&^!!!!!!!!....I better quit playing one of the best looking games to date cause it runs in a different resolution. Goes to show you that all this "TRUE HD" is nothing more than crap!FunkyHeadHunter
I am completely lost by your comments!?! Are you saying that if this game was in True HD it would not look significantly better? I think some of you misunderstand scaling and how truly poor these consoles get the job done. Its like upscaling a DVD to HD Resolutions. It still looks like crap compared to HD Material. Compare Blu Ray to DVD w/ higher bitrates. Same thing for Consoles as far as the DVD example. If the job was done correctly it would be like the PC version with True HD textures which is a night and day difference. I own the 360 Version and the resolution scaled onmy 42inch1080p Sharp Aquos and my 50 inch 1080p Samsung can not compare to the PC version AT ALL. This is because this game is using such low res textures the scaling doesn't impact picture at all. I am not even going to get started on running the game at its native resolution which visually should be the same as the TV native resolution so that the TV doesn't have to scale it again...
Is the game great? Yes. Would it look noticeably better if it was True HD? Duh... If this game was made @ 1280x720 it would obviously look much better then it does if it was ran on a TV thats native resolution was 1280x720. Youhavea game running at X resolution, the 360 is trying scale it to X resolution whileyour TV is trying to scale itto x resolution. Thisdegrades image quality. For those that don't believe me, try running a true native720p gameon a 720pHDTV. Now throw that game scaled to 1080p on a 1080p TV.Wow, guess what looks better?
plays fast enough for me and graphics good enough for me at 1200ishx 1024 on me 22" widescreen monitior. some stuff lil jaggy but end of day i play for the online crack not to stand at a sniper point and admire the view of smashed up buildings.
id rather things were turned down a notch if it means the graphics flow as smooth as they do on cod4.
maybe an option though when they turn it down they cud be a pc style option to up the res to the 720 and take a hit on the frame rate. give people the choice.
but really its just little niggles. the games great fun on or offline. im not bothered about stats on pixels per inch etc, ya can have the highest rez graphics but it dont gurantee that ur games going to look amazing. its what the people design for u to look at and how they use what ever resoloutions they choose.
its a fun game and im glad i bought it, id still enjoy it just as much if the graphics were same spec as cod3 ,., its the gameplay thats the best on cod games now its nice the graphics caught up as well no matter the res they look nice

The games you mention are all 3rd person, run without vsync and considerable less of a frame rateand invlove clipping and slowdown issues.
Infinity Ward has done the best they can with the hardware at present. No other1st Person Shooteron the 360 runs at the framerate COD4 does, withall the effects going on at the same time without a hiccup in framerate.
By the way, all 360 games are RENDERED at 720p or 600p, and a couple at 1080i...your Xbox merely upconverts to 1080p, none are rendered at 1080p...the 360 doesn't have the memory to keep up with that size resoulution.

No that is not the reason. Its mainly that developers do not want to run their games at that resolution yet due to framerate problems or something else.
Well, I'm better on the Xbox so it's more deserving there ;) Bruce Campbell is a god by the way (nice avatar).Wicked_Spades
Sure, I can see why some people would want to get it for a console. I just couldn't imagine playing a CoD game on a console.
And yes, BC is God. Thank you.

those games dont run at 1080 P on 360 or ps3.... ur either lying or u mean 1080 i. There is a BIG difference. Anyways yeah, i run cod 4 at 1680 x 1050 all highest settings with 16 X Anti Aliasing (CSAA) and get 60 to 120 fps.
