...you play it on Veteran.

I really am surprised how much more I am enjoying the single player campaign on this setting. When I got the game back on release I played through single player on the difficulty below "Hardened". Yes, I know that difficulty is a joke, but I played COD4 beta and honestly I was just in it for the incredible multiplayer. I more or less just cruised through the single player campaign to get a feel for it. Although still a fantastic experience, moving the setting to Veteran forces you play the game proper.

I am currently inside the missle silo near the end of the game...

The point of my tale is this...If you thought the single player was "Meh", "Too Short", etc... play the game on Veteran. I was amazed how much more I am enjoying it, despite having my arse handed to me MANY MANY times.

AGREED.

It's devastatingly hard though. I've beaten most of the levels on veteran. I've gotten to the control room level and it's a nightmare. I'm stuck at the part where you have about 5:30 left and you have to walk down a corridor with hallways on both sides where guys will shoot at you, then there are also guys in front of you behing some barrels.

It's MADNESS!!!

:P

The game is more enjoyable on the veteran setting...... ok, it's enjoyable and frustrating lol.. I finished it on the easier setting (don't remember the official setting name) and I just recently started over on veteran and I'm having fun with it.

I finished it on normal and hardened and I really enjoy going back and playing ghillies in the mist. Next step is playing Veteran and I should probably do that before Rainbow Six comes out since that will take up some time.

Yes, I think the mission inside the missle silo on veteran difficulty is BY FAR the hardest part of the game. When you get that point where you are in a hallway, there is a baracade of boxes blocking the path and you can choose either a narrow hallway on the left or a narrow hallway on the right, you're in for a whole world of hurt once that part begins. But I loved the game way more on Veteran as well.

Yes, veteran is enjoyable and certainly does make the game longer. I very much enjoyed completing it on veteran, it was very rewarding.

i played it first on Hardened and it was pretty tough already. still very fun on Veteran, but then it's just plain crazy. Mile High Club was actually pretty fun despite how I tried more than 30 times to beat it. not even the final boss of Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 compares to that and UMK3's AI is freakin godly.

Oh, it can definitely be frustrating at times. "Heat" pissed me off something fierce. I'm also in the section within the Missle Silo when you have to deal with that narrow hall way. It's crazy difficult, but I'm enjoying it...for the most part.

Also, I just recently bought some 5.1 dolby digital headphones and the sound and music in the game are incredible. I have a nice 5.1 surround sound system in the living room, but the little things I can hear with the headphones is insane.

I knew the sound effects were great, but the ambient sound adds a whole other level of greatness... leaves, woodpeckers in the distance, things I never heard on the theater setup.

I do feel kind of stupid praising a game everyone knows is great though.... :)

That part took me FOREVER. You have to go prone and take out a soldier in either corridor. Speaking of which, Mile High Club took me about about 2 hours.

BTW, Did anyone manage to take the chopper down with an RPG in the final mission?

Just reading the title of this thread, I was going to post the same thing as TC. Veteran is a challenge beyond challenge, and completing the Veteran missions makes you worthy. The only bad thing is that it's easy to get out of the groove. I played something else for two days and tried going back... nope!

No way, not in a million years. I tried to do that several times, but to no success. The only part I could take a down a chopper is after your squad-mate puts a bullet in the head of Osama (or whatever his name was), and then it's the morning after where you run up the hill to the farm. Once on the farm, about 30 bad guys show up, some are dropped off via helicopter, so I put an RPG in one of 'em and finally got the achievement for it.

All you had to do was play on Normal, go to the mission where youre escorting War Pig out of the Bog and when the Choppers bring re-inforcements run up to the bus and there should be an RPG right around that area, and pick it up and shoot the Chopper.
