Hello. I play Call of Duty 4. I like Call of Duty 4. I played through almost every mission of Call of Duty 4 on Veteran difficulty. Except "No Fighting in the War Room." I fought so hard, so far. It took me 2 days to get halfway through the level. About 70 tries. About 4 hours combined I spent in that hellish underground bunker. I reached the part where you clear the missle silos and then rejoin with Cpt. Price to open the big steel door. But it doesn't happen. Whenever I enter the room, the sequence doesn't trigger. Price just stands there at the door, waving at me to enter, even though I already did. Its a glitch. A GLITCH! I SPENT 2 DAYS TRYING TO BEAT THAT LEVEL ONLY FOR A GLITCH! Do not tell me; "Oh, it's just a one-time thing, it'll trigger if you try again. I re-tried the same sequence from the checkpoint 4 times. FOUR TIMES. And still the event doesn't trigger. Still it isn't read. Are you meaning to tell me I went through the entire game on grueling Veteran difficulty, over the course of a week and a half, over dozens of hours, to find out the game has a flaw in it on the last level that prevents me from moving further!!!! Is there any way to fix this? And do not say, "Oh, start a new game on "Easy." I refuse to finish Call of Duty 4 unless it is on Veteran difficulty! I used to assosciate Infinity Ward with quality. It used to be my favorite developer. But couple this incident, plus the horrible checkpoint system and cheating enemy AI, and I'm starting to think they're selling out just like EA. I am in tears, in tears because I worked so hard to get this far in Call of Duty only tto be stopped, and in tears my favorite developer, my favorite series betrayed me. And don't just say "Pfft, its just a game." Its not on Veteran mode. It's a commitment. It's hell.

I just needed to spout to someone...

Can't you just restart the level on veteran?

Honestly, your over-reacting. Find me a game that has never had one glitch and then you can ***** all you want.

well the game itself is great, and although this may not help you, sometimes the hardest difficulty on a game the first run through can be repetitive and take away some of the fun value from the actual game. Veteran difficulty is no joke, i would know, but playing hard or normal first on a game like that makes veteran easy and fast because you know what to do, where to go, and where enemies come from.

COD4 is hard when played on veteran, yes some of the things featured really require you to just dig in deep and hope you dont get shot, but honestly if this is a glitch were speaking of, you may have to try re-doing that level on an easier diffculty if you can, if it works then you'll just have to replay the level on veteran, its hard to face but it may be the unavoidable course.

Try defragmenting your hard drive. I had a similar problem on COD2 and after I defragmented my hdd, it worked fine. The only drawback is that you may need to start the level over again. Hold down the A button after the game starts a keep it held down until it gets to the developer's title screen.

I actually didn't have much trouble at all on Veteran (EXCEPT MILE HIGH CLUB!!! > : ( )

But besides that I was lucky on NFITWR, I didn't get the checkpoint glitch

I thought I was gonna have such a hard time since I couldn't really beat veteran on COD 2 or 3 :X

I guess I'm gonna have to face it...I'm gonna have to restart the level over againg :(. But not anytime soon, I think I need a break from CoD4 now, its caused me to scream more profanity than thats found in a script to a Quentin Tarrintino movie. I never even knew I knew some of the words I screamed at the TV as the screen went red. And BTW, I've already beaten CoD4 twice on the PC, once on Normal, once on Hardened. I'm trying to get every achievement for the 360, so I can prove to my "Halo" friends I own at CoD4, and they can't touch me (They all beat it on Easy mode). I'm sorry to be spouting though, I've been pouring my soul into that level all afternoon and to have beaten it three times but being forced to start over made me die a little on the inside. I'm also dreading the Mile High Club.:?

I thought it was pretty easy, the only mission I had problems with was Mile High but right after I beat it for my first time, I tried it with only a pistol and beat it again.

I had a hell of a time with NFITWR...I played through it probably 30 times just to get to the part you're describing as having a problem with. Once I got there but without enough time left so I didn't get the checkpoint and I died. Another time, I somehow breezed up to the door without any problem and made the checkpoint time limit, like 2 minutes faster than I had before. I had no problem with this glitch that you speak of, though...I am really sorry to hear it, but keep working. It's an accomplishment that you made it as far as you have!
