Well they made Call of Duty 3 which has an average score of around 8.3. So I will have to guess that it will be a good game but nowhere near as good as Call of Duty 4.
I have no interest in playing yet another WW2 shooter.
I wish developers would use a bit of imagination rather than sticking to the same boring formula that has been done to death in countless other games. They'll probably just re-use a load of the resources they made for COD3, since all the weapons and uniforms will be the same. And they can probably re-use most of the scenery as it is usually fairly generic stuff rather than recreating a specific recognisable place.
COD4 was a welcome change. A modern day shooter where you are fighting people rather than evil aliens, and with a decent selection of modern weapons rather than the bloody M1 Garand, and Thomson sub-machinegun
"The publisher did not say if series creator Infinity Ward or Treyarch (Call of Duty 3, Spider-Man 3) was developing the project."
Straight from the latest gamespot update about CoD5. No one knows if Treyarch really is set to make it, I hope not. Odds are Activision won't let it stray TOO far from the likes of CoD4, since it was such a runaway hit. So my guess is Activision and Infinity Ward will have a hand in it. But hey, that's just hoping..

http://kotaku.com/389162/call-of-duty-5-already-playable I don't really trust Gamespot with the latest news. I would say "odds are" that Call of Duty 5 was already in development by Treyarch before CoD 4 was even released. The only way they can release these titles so fast is by working with both Treyarch and Infinity Ward, so I highly doubt CoD5 would have anything to do with IW.
Been playing the WW2 games ever since MOH, Battlefield 1942 and Return to Wolfenstien. Even so COD1 and 2 were great. (COD3 was alright.) I'm starting to hate WW2 games. I mean how many times do you have to defeat the Axis. Regardless of whether it's the Pacific theater now. I feel like Bill Murray in Ground Hog Day!
What about Vietnam, Korean War, or dare I say it? Civil War? Anything other than the WW2. Hell if they do the pacific theater, they might as well skip bringing it out in Japan. lol.
Now that treyarch is set to make call of duty 5 how do you think it will turn out?SeanDaugherty
Hey guys, lets all judge a how a game will be based off of no actual images of the game or anything. And since we are all blatant CoD4 fanboys, lets bash the game because our favorite beloved developer isn't making it!

The title of this thread fails.
Having said that, the topic creator's question in the post makes more sense. No, I don't think it'd be a bad game if Treyarch made it, but I certainly wouldn't say it'd be as good, well written or executed as Call of Duty 4.
