i hope it doesn't. The fourth Call of Duty was amazing, and a lot of it was because it was modern, and our military actually uses most of the weapons seen in the game. If it does return...hell i'll still probably buy it anyway

I hope not. After the success of Modern Warfare, why go back to WWII. It's been done over and over again, almost to the point that i'm getting sick of that whole era on any game. Why can't we have something more refreshing?

If it is, then I'm as happy as can be. I HATE modern combat. I want games that either take place in World War 2, farther back in the past, or far into the future.

yes, COD4 is totally awesome and amazing. modern warfare definately rules. but i am i no way sick of WW2 shooters. so bring on the nazis.

I guess we'll have to see next year :) IMO, CoD5 was already in production before launch of CoD4 or at least some concept existed. But, yeah, i hope it wont be WW2 game again

Treyarch said somewhere long before CoD4 came out that 5 would be WWII. I think Infinity taking the series out of its staple time period rubbed Treyarch the wrong way. Because otherwise I don't see why they would go back to WWII. Its a genre the gaming public has nearly unanimously expressed distate for now a days. Its old news, Medal of Honor has ran itself into the ground with the time period and CoD shouldn't have the same fate.

The thing I really do not understand is why they keep swapping devs every game or so. Infinity... Treyarch... Infinity... Treyarch (I know the 1st and 2nd were Infinity, but it seems like a new trend). I like Infinities Call of Duties. Call me a fanboy. :P

Ugh, I hate WW2 shooters...

COD 4 was intense!

I dont know though, it has to be incredible if they want to step back to WWII AGAIN

Its likely not going to be incredible, the same people who made CoD1/2/4 are not making it. Treyarch just likes making WW2 shooters. Plus there CoD games have always been hailed as the weakest releases in the series.

Well according to THIS rumor it is going to be in WWII, but it will take place during the Pacific battles.

This doesn't really float my boat as EA tried that already with MOH: Pacific Assault and that was no good. Personally it felt too much like a Vietnam game, with the jungles and such and that was a total snoozefest.

For Call of Duty 5, I think they should come to the states. What Ubisoft did with Rainbow Six Vegas was awesome. I think for the Call of Duty franchise, it will be a good idea and something different in the series.

I don't really care if they go back to WWII. I know Treyarch is at the helm, so I won't get my hopes up too high. Call of Duty 3 was a good game and if they're heading into the Pacific, then I'm all for it. The Medal of Honor game in the Pacific was terrible, but that's the only game that ventured into a different theatre.

People will say that WWII has been done so many times, but so has modern and futuristic warfare.
