Call of Duty 5- should it really return to World War 2?

I would love for the Call of Duty series to stick with modern day for a bit longer. The gameplay was able to be more intense, the weapons were more advanced and the multiplayer just seemed to work better in the modern day. Previous World War 2 games have generally lacked new ideas and have not been able to deliver a great multiplayer experience like COD4.

Modern Warfare, I believe, was a good move and furthermore, the younger generation could relate to the storyline. Honestly, I think they should keep the series more in the present, perhaps even a few years into the future.MsCortana

If the series is going to make a jump to the future, lets leave that with Infinity Ward. I don't want Treyarch developing futuristic garbage.

Agreed. The improvemtents to gameplay and the increase in sheer intensity had more to do with Infinity Ward developing than it had to do with setting.

I'm holding out until IW releases CoD6.

I tend to agree. Enough of that s*** already. A Vietnam one would be all right. When was the last Vietnam-themed shooter released? Aside from budget titles, obviously.

I'd like to see a Vietnam themed game on the same level as COD4.mohfrontline

IMO i think it would be a bad move for them to go fall back from modern war. if they did ppl would still buy it but not play it as much as they do with cod4.

I will never tire of shooting nazi's. I'm sure the new gameplay and graphics will make for an amazing ww2 game. That said I would prefer another setting/time period...

no more WWII. please. I mean with the new metal of honor game and all the other WWII games out it is just to much. now some of the WWII game are badass but there is to many of them. but a cold war game would be pretty goddamn sweat. and I think infinity ward should do it. :D

What do you mean a cold war game NOTHING HAPPENED in the coldwar. We can strategically build up blockades and wait. That sounds like a lot of funs. I do not mean to harp on you to bad but this is not the first time i have seen anyone say a cold war game would be so cool. jashah17

Hey I think they should stick with modern combat for now. Call of Duty 4 is the Best Game Out There! They need to hurry up with it too.

What the COD series needs to do is hope between eras, WWII,Vietnam,Iraq, and the future. This way when they come back to WWII in 2 or 3 years, it will feel like a fresh experience because it will have updated graphics and gameplay that will have come from the previous years of advancement.
