i don't feel like getting into a flame war....lol it's the fifth CoD to be released, but not the 5th in the series.

The next game will be some version of "Modern Warfare 2." Think of it as a new start to the series.

They've broken away from the numbers, maybe they think it's too high or it's possible that Modern Warfare and World at War are going to be the continuing franchises that alternate from year to year.Strife88

I'm sure I just read that it's called Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2...so I'm guessing its gonna be alot like tha last one, only more updated, kinda like GRAW and GRAW 2...mistykal5

Yeah, if they make it in the future I hope they just do it like GRAW and not put it very far in the future because that would stink.

All I have to say about this, is that they had other CoD's like the Big Red One and they didn't count as a number, so I'm sure this one will be called CoD 5. I will say though that it's dumb to actually care if someone calls CoD: WaW CoD 5. Ain't no thang son! Can't we all just get along?

actually no, it's called Call of Duty: World at War....there is no "5" anywhere in there

Only the main games have numbers attached to them and I would consider World at War to be one of them, they've decided to go with subtitles instead now so you can stop going into the game's history because it doesn't help anything.Strife88

Exactly... Grand theft auto did the same thing. I don't understand why it's such a hard concept for people, everyone just goes "DURR! 5 comz aftur for!!"

Call of Duty: World at War isn't Call of Duty 5, nor is Call of Duty: Modern Warefare 2 going to be Call of Duty 6. Call of Duty 5 & 6 will be released at later dates. People call them that now because they are confused about the concept of 5 coming after 4 in numerical sequence. You'll all feel like morons when CoD 5 hits the markets in 2010.

And by that logic, GTA 4 should have been called GTA 8. But it isn't.

I don't care either way but when it was announced by G4 and others it said "callof duty 6 has been confirmed...Modern warfare 2"

Again I don't care and i see both sides of the argument, but if someone at activision is calling 6 just deal with it. Its not even like WAW is a bad game.

And no I won't feel like an idiot if call of duty 5 and 6 comeout becuase it doesn't matter.

Games like GTA: London, San Andreas, Vice City, Guitar Hero: Rock the 80s, etc, are all expansions. Call of Duty 7 will probably just have another subtitle too.

exactly what i was thinking. and since the only COD game i liked was COD 4: modern warefare, I am not thrilled about the 5th game in the series going back to WWII. True it does not say COD5:world at war, but either way it sucks.... and really It doesnt help that there are several other WWII shooters out there already. I dont care what the title says, I just want another modern warfare COD game.

I like the modern warfare scene but i also like WWII. No future, that would ruin the series. It would seem like anyone of those other ripoff future war games.
