Call of Duty: World at War... I think I'll pass

In anticipation of the release of the next COD game I was considering selling COD4 early to get more for it. Then I watched the gameplay videos for WaW.

Don't misunderstand me, it doesn't look BAD, it's just that it doesn't look good. I love the idea of FINALLY introducing a japanese campaign but it still looks so much like COD2! I mean I was expecting some like far cry-esque forest and brush fighting and . I mean that's how it was in the Pacific right?

COD4 had so much hype and anticipation, and it propelled the series so far! while WaW just seems like a huge step back. I don't get it. I must say for the first time I'm NOT excited about the next COD game and I certainly won't be getting it around launch day.

Hopefully people will still be online in COD4.

I'm not picking it up either. Why buy World at War when you could buy Far Cry 2?

actually alot sites(like GS) said that the WAW flamethrower is one of the best theyve seen in a game yet.

Just heard yesterday that Infinity Ward is coming out with another modern Warfare late in 2009! So ... for me its COD4 online for the next year, I'll skip COD5. From what I've heard around the forums the majority of gamers will continue to play COD4 online more than CO5.

Yea I felt COD3 was a low point in the series for sure. Hopefully their extra time pays off. I'm not noticing much difference graphically, but I am sick of WWII guns.

Its definatley gonna be tough to give Treyarch another go round, but the other thing is.....Gears launches what.....at the same time or a week prior??? This game is gonne be buried no matter how good it is....by the avalanche that is Gears of War 2Xero319

I'd buy it for the single player experience (maybe rent now that I'm thinking about it prob rent) but for multiplayer... please please let infinity ward do the multiplayer... CoD3's multiplayer SUCKED!!ArticRecon

Yeah I'll pass too. I have nothing against the developer but it's just that it is so stupid that they decided to go back to WW2 and I just feel that no other developer can do COD4 and the COD franchise better or even good at all than Infinity Ward. I'm going to wait until next year when they release their new COD6 game and buy that. Lets hope they don't dwell in the past like this game will too.SPD_WeBmAsTaH

And thats not true plenty of many people still love to play WW2 games. I have alot of friends who are history buffs, including me, my major is History. Me personally ill rent it unless the MP is amazing

your very much a good example of stupidity of course people are going to still play COD4 its the number one played game on xbox live if you don't want it then don't buy it dont whine on the forums like a 8 year old.

They should have just consolidated this game in with a new Tony Hawk. Mediocre + Mediocre= Awsomely Less Mediocre. Have Paul Walker do voice work, this is would be buyable.

This will probably how it will go.

The IW fanboys will dismiss the game because its made by Treyarch. The game will be released and LOADS of people will buy it the first day and play it. This game will kick ass and sell like hotcakes like EVERY COD game has done. And COD3 WAS popular, don't deny it, there where thousands of people playing multiplayer each day.

And for those who still play COD4, thats fine. but man, aren't you tired of playing the same damn game day in and day out? More DLC? Thats laughable.

Maybe you should go back and play through COD2 again, then you might realize that maybe it wasn't that great of a game. It made for a great launch title to showcase the 360s graphical prowess, 60 fps and great 5.1 audio, but there's no sprint and you can't throw grenades back. WaW should be another step in the right direction.
