Can display reference levels effect framerate?

I've always had it on standard but recently I changed it to Expanded and noticed the colour looks much deeper but when I was playing Nuts & Bolts I noticed it seemed a bit sluggish to normal.

Could the reference level effect the framerate?

i have mine set to expanded and have not noticed any drop in framerate

No it doesnt, stuff happening on the screen does
