So when I got my Xbox I didn't care about the Live ID... I just got one. Now I've recently changed my email provider to hotmail... and got another Windows Live ID. I know I can somehow group them together, but is there a way to change the one associated with my gamertag? Xbox.com won't let me do that.

I actually tried the same thing about 4 months ago or something, and I shot M$ an email. After a bit of hunting I still have it filed, too:

"Thank you for writing Xbox Customer Support!

I apologize for the inconvenience. I understand that you want to associate your gamertag to a different Windows Live ID.

Unfortunately, you cannot change the Windows Live ID account that is associated with your Xbox Live gamer profile. This behavior is by design. The Windows Live ID credentials that you used when you added Xbox Live to your gamer profile are permanently associated with your Xbox Live enabled profile.

Even if you cancel your Xbox Live account, you cannot use the same Windows Live ID account together with a new Xbox Live enabled profile. Your Windows Live ID credentials are permanently linked to a specific Xbox Live enabled profile. You cannot break this link.

Your current account is parentally controlled and you become an adult, your account will continue to be parentally controlled. You must have the owner of the Windows Live ID account who established parental controls on your account turn off those parental controls so that you can use the Xbox Live enabled profile without restrictions.

If you want to know about this, you need to call our phone support.

If you need to reply to this e-mail, please reply 'with history' (include any previous e-mail) so we can expedite our service to you.

You may also call Xbox Phone Support at 1-800-4MYXBOX (1-800-469-9269) at your earliest convenience, and we'll be happy to help you. We are open everyday from 8am to 12mn US Central Time. "

My dreams... shot down.

You cant unfortunatley. I think its lame as I've had some issue with hotmail in the past and ended up having to change my e-mial. Luckily this has not happened for years now. So hopefully they'll be gone becuase I'll be p***ed if I happens again now its linked to my live account.

before the xbox live update in xbox live, my account iShank N Gank worked fine. so i didn't;t play for like 3 weeks and on April 2, 2008, i wanted to play some Halo 3 and CoD4. but when i tied to sign in it said something about my gamertag not existing. So i go on Xbox.com and try to load it there. no luck. then i go-to recover gamertag on the Xbox 360 dashboard, i put in my gamertag, iShank N Gank, i go to next page put in Email and password for Windows live ID, and when i clicked "next" it said Information is INVALID, blah blah blah. so i go back on xbox.com and go to "register now" i put in the name iShank n Gank (not a capital "N") and i go ahead and put in the rest of the information.

and now that new account i made is connected to my windows live id that was connected to my other gamertag. and i called xbox and they can only pull up the new SILVER account. so xbox and windows live id people. what happen to not being able to change your windows live id and gamertag link??!?!?

so i got jiped 800 MS points and a good 6-7 more months of LIVE.

+ achievements but that's the least of my worries

I thought you had to log onto your Xbox 360 and change your privacy settings, that's it? I changed my email address...
