Just got the my Xbox 360 set up on my monitor with the VGA adapter and the sound hooked up to my 7.1 speaker system. I really think the picture looks great, but the sound is only 2.1. I tried changing the settings in the system console to 5.1 (both of them) and it was still only 2.1. Playing Guitar Hero II in 2.1 is so disapointing when I can play Guitar Hero III on my PC in full surround sound. Is there an adapter I can buy or something that will let me take advantage of my speaker setup?
you can get an optical cable that plugs into that tiny socket on the lead that goes from your 360 to your t.v. plug that into your theater system and there u go.
Thats the only thing I dislike about the VGA cable. If your using a VGA cable, it's to hook it up to a monitor, not a TV. And the Surround Systems made for Monitors don't have Optical input, they use 4-6 3.5mm (1/8") plugs on the back.

no.. most hdtvs have vga...
Most people don't buy a VGA connector to hook their system up to the TV, they use HDMI, Component, or Composite. VGA is normally used for Monitors.
