I'm worried about static electricity, every now and then I'll touch my steel shelf and get a little shock. But all my other electronics run fine, so am I just a little paranoid or should I put some bigger rubber pads on the bottom of the system? Two of the rubber pads on the system can touch the shelf, but only the sides of the other two pads touch the shelf.

And while we're on the subject, should I plug the system directly into the power outlet instead of a multi-plug?

The console is covered in a plastic shell, it cannot conduct electricity. It will be fine on a metal shelf. And as far as I know the 360 power supply has a surge protector built in so you should just plug it straight into the wall, if not then one of those multi things will do, but don't plug it into a surge protector.

You'll be fine! Usually if you get a shock while touching an electronic appliance means the room is to dry. Run a humidifier a few times and see if it helps!

Thanks guys :)

Now that the matter of the steel shelf has been resolved, can anyone tell me if its safe to plug the 360 in a multi-plug?

i think the multiplug is fine but i've heard it's not great to plug it into a multiplug with a surge protector since the power brick already has a surge protector (i think...)

Anyone know for sure WHY it would be bad to plug the xbox into another surge protector?

How do you know if your multi-plug has a surge protector? My multi-plug has a On & Off switch, does that mean it has a surge protector built-in?
