So, I steal someone's internet. Don't bug me about it, please.
I want Xbox Live, but I can't get the whole Ethernet cable from Laptop to 360 to work. Or even, the wirless router picking up the signal also...Router to 360. When I plug into the PC, my 360 can't read the IP Address. When I plug the cable into the router, it picks up the IP Address, but not the DNS. I don't wanna pay for internet, and I can't find the whole Internet Connection Sharing on my Properties.
Please, someone help me out!

And if a Wireless Network Adapter will work, even if it's stolen. Tell me! Please!

If the person is stupid enough not to put a password on his router, then he deserves to get his internet stolen. It's in every router manual out there and takes less than a minute to do.

Maybe he has a portable device such as a Nintendo DS that doesn't connect to locked routers?

Guys, stop being a-holes and just help me out. I asked for your help/advice not your criticism. And yes, it's wide open.
But anyone with GOOD ADVICE AND MAYBE A TUTORIAL can post here.

That may be, but still, you can unlock and lock your router whenever you feel like doing so.

Okay. I'm not gonna do friggin' work. I'm a fourteen year old kid, who's parents are cheap and just steal internet. I'm not forcing them to pay for internet when we can get it for free. Alright.
I'm a teenager, that wants to play on Xbox Live. I'm asking for help.

Dammit. You guys are a*sholes. Someone just shut this goddamn thread down and I'll find out by myself.
I also wouldn't tell me to shut up, when you're probably older than me, living in your parent's basement and have nothing better to do then rag on kids who wanna play on an Online service. Pricks.

Not so much...but to the guy who said he deserves his internet stolen umm. So you are saying that if I leave my car unlocked it DESERVES to be stolen? Or say my house DESERVES to be burglarized if I leave the door unlocked? What in the hell kind of logic is that. Sure he is making it easier on the thief to take it, but that does not make it any more legal, or any more deserved. The only person who DESERVES that internet is the person who is paying for it.

Well if it helps quell your tears, once you figure it out on your own...playing live on your setup is going to blow anyway. So you are welcome.

Yeah, thanks for helping me.-_Jeremy_-

The only way u can get someone elses internet to work for ur xbox is with a Wirelessnetwork adapter made for the xbox 360. its about 80 to 100 dollars. When ever I go to a grandmas to stay the night for a few days I will just use that to pick up someones internet connection and play games. People do this with laptops all the time as well, same with PSP and DS's. Hope this helped a little. Oh when u go to ur network settings click on search network then select the one. One may require a password and others may be open. If they require a password ur screwed,

Alright, well thanks for not bashing me. Now I finally saw this Internet Connection Sharing thing, clicked the box...but it still didn't work. Now...this will sort of help me. Please, get back to me on this. Can the Wireless Network Adapter for the 360 connect to any wireless network (if it's Open...which the connection is)?

honestly u shouldnt be stealin from ur next door neighbor (and if it isnt ur next door neighbor than u will not have a decent connection and will always suffer lag) but if ur that desparate i will help u. since it sounds like ur ethernet idea doesnt work go for the wireless network adapter (which u may not be able to afford cuz u dont even have internet) but anyway it takes a long stressful time to get it hooked up but it will work. go to xbox.com for a step by step once u get that far.

Alright, thanks. MIB, I got the money for a wireless network adapter and I'm not old. I'm only fourteen. My parents just are cheap and don't wanna pay for internet, there's nothing I can do about it.
But thank you for not completly bashing me. And so a Wireless Network Adapter will connect to ANYTHING without a password (which mine is without password) right?
