I heard that the new 360s all have been remodeled so that they work better and get rid of the overheating issues and 3 red light issue. If this is true with any of the different 360 versions, which ones? I am looking to know since my first one broke and I would like to purchase a new one. I kept my hard drive so my ideal 360 bundle is the Xbox 360 arcade console and to use my old equipment with it.But if the Elite or the Halo versions are better, I would like to know. Thanks.

All 360s produced after September 2007 have the new 65nm CPUs, which supposedly prevents overheating.

Elites have a much lower chance of getting 3 red rings than the white core and premiums but that doesn't mean that all the white ones are flawed. If you want peace of mind go for an Elite. :)

You first console should be under warranty, you can call 1-800-4-My-Xbox for assistance.

The is what they call the Falcon Chipset, console makers are constantly adding new parts and refining manufacturing. The chipsets don't make any difference to actual gameplay, so Microsoft isn't going to advertise changes like this But all recently produced 360s have this.

If you can get your machine fixed, but the new machines are very reliable from my experience, and all come with a very long warranty against what people call the Red Ring of Death.

Yeah, that's what I've been hearing about the elites, they are reliable. I have also heard that the Halo version 360 is reliable too. But, the workers at Gamestop told me that the Pro system and Arcade 360 (the version I'm interested in) are remodeled now too and work just as Elites. Is this true?

They are but i got my Pro 360 about 7 months ago when they "claimed" that they were remodeled and just got the RROD a couple of weeks ago so problems can still happen even though even with the pro systems and Arcade 360's, the problem is still there but the chance of you getting it are much less.

I was one of the unlucky one's i suppose. :)

Thanks for the feedback, I will save a lot of money by buying the Arcade 360 since I have the hard drive, mic, ethernet cable... and I get a free mem card and 5 arcade games.

I bought my first 360 a year ago with a 1 yr warranty and it died 2 weeks after the warranty ran out. I was bummed. So I want to buy a new one that works well so I don't have to deal with this again.

If you still have the original 360 I'd send it in for repair (they extended the warranty on all 360's up to 3 yrs) and then trade it in towards the Arcade or even Elite

It's true. Most of the newer batch consoles have been manufactured differently to prevent overheating.
