i know that there are good games on it already, so there's no need of listing games for me.

i'm just curious about some issues on 360. hope you guys can help me out, thanksĀ

1. do you guys think the overheating is a big issue? i'm super worried if i got one and it ended up in the factory again after a month or so

2. do you guys think no wi-fi is ok? now my router is the other room and i play games in my own room, if i want to go online, wireless is the best option for me.

3. do you guys think XBL worth $50 a year? so what happened if you don't pay? can you still play games online?

4. is there any other issues i should be aware of before i made my purchase?

once again, thanks~

1.Ā  Overheating has never been an issue for me.

2.Ā  Wifi is fine butĀ  it'll cost you

3.Ā  Sure it's worth $50 a year but have fun trying to cancel.Ā  Customer service is a nightmare.

4.Ā  Nothing that I can think of, welcome to the 360, enjoy!

1. Overheating is not an issue. As with most hardware, just give all of the vents proper space. 2. Not sure how much wi-fi would cost and I don't know the layout of your living space, but I'd just tape a cable along the floor. 3. Xbox Live is certainly worth $50. Demos, occasionally free downloads, updates, content to enhance your games... I sound like a promo, but it's an impressive service overall. 4. Don't even think about moving the console while a disk is spinning inside. (Did I have to tell you that, really?) You hadn't mentioned if you're getting a hard drive, so you should definitely do that. If you feel leery about the 360 because of the stories of earlier factory runs breaking, the 360 now comes with a 1 year standard warranty.

1. I have a launch 360,Ā  and I keep it a cool dry place. I've never had an issue, nor have any of my friends. Whatever that counts for. :P

2. I don't use wi-fi. I use a direct connection. More reliable and stable in my book. I only go wireless if I have no other options.

3. Yes. That's less than $5 a month. If you don't pay, you don't play. No, you can't play them online w/o Live.

4. Don't get a core. If you live in a hot or warm enviroment you might consider an intercooler. One of my friends swears by it, but I've never needed it.Ā

W-fi is great. You can move your xbox around andĀ still be able to play online, and get live. If i didn't have live my xbox would be just sitting around gathering dust. single player games are all good the first couple times but get boring after that and you don't always have friends around to play with.

Well, he's had it for a couple of months and his 360 hasn't melted. He lives in a relatively warm enviroment (his grandmother lives with him and he needs the house warm). And he hasn't had an overheat problem since he installed it, at least that I'm aware of.Ā

1. Ive never had a problem with the 360 overheating, just keep it vertical and in a open space.

2. wireless is good but itll set you back around $120

3. you have to buy a year card to play online without it, its not the same.

4. if you can pick up an elite or just get the premium. either way its worth it.

I'm going to be non-conformist and post my response in paragraph form. :P

anyways, I love my 360 I play it quite a bit. If you are looking to open yourself up into this generation of gaming this is the console to get. The Wii is fun but honestly its nothing but party games and Zelda, so if you are into hardcore gaming save that for a later purchase. The PS3 is a good console to it's own but Resistance, Motorstorm and Virtual Fighter 5 are it's only good apps at the moment.

You could get a DS or PSP but if you like to game when you are at home and not really anywhere else, get a Xbox360. Some might say to get the Elite and honestly I think it's worth the money but the Premium is still good if you don't want to take the extra cash.

My favorite things about the 360 are all the arcade games and demos. Actually the whole market place is really sweet. I also love the comfortable controller, the wireless headsets (tell you some handy things in a sec), for the most part I love the community and even if gamerpoints don't thrill you, they do tend to bring you back to earn some more points. It actually does add quite a bit more value to the game you have already purchased.

The wireless headsets are pretty cool because they have their own battery so you can get more gameplay out between your controller and headset as opposed to having a headset connected and using your controllers battery being used more. So in turn you can remain wireless. Also I don't know how many people do this but I actually talk quite a bit through voice chat to friends and if I ever want to move to another room (wireless ranges about 20-25' depending on wall interference) I can leave my controller in the room, go to my kitchen and make myself some food. I in turn don't have to carry around that controller, and trust me its a pain.Ā  The wireless mic isn't that cheap and some people don't like it for reasons that escape me but it's worth the money. It's a hell of a lot cheaper than a bluetooth one for the PS3 though. From the amount I have used the VoIP I probably saved around $1000-$1700 in long distance charges since the day I bought my 360 (launch day).

Anyways if chatting isn't your thing then gaming is still awesome. There's some great Muiltiplayer games available (like you probably know already).

I've convinced quite a few people to buy 360's and they all love them. Honestly you can't go wrong with this console. Sure it has had it's problems but those are slowly being rectified. Even if you do get some problems I personally have had great experience with the customer service. When my first one broke they sent me PGR3 and a Wireless controller as an apology pretty much (not saying this will happen for you if the situation ever arose).

My final word is, buy one if you have the money and you like games. Otherwise your money is best invested in an other current hobby or interest.

1. Keep the 360 in an open area and you should be fine

2. The 360 wifi is a wee bitexpen$ive. I understand that there are ways to hook the 360 up to another wireless modem in "bridge" mode but I have not done it. (poor mans method. Drill holes and lots of wire!)

3. It is worth the $50 for me. Playing online with friends is well worth the cost of a few coffees per month. (it's less than $5/month)

4.Ā The 360 can be a little loud on takeoff! You get used to it quickly!

Ā

Hope this helps!

1 - if you're going to be buying one soon, get an elite.Ā  Sure it's more expensive, but the HDMI port must be huge to have, and in that case, heating should never be an issue considering the new hardware the Elite has.

2 - 360's Wi-fi adapter is very very steep, although I have additional network ports on the back of my wireless router, so I connect it to that with an additional LAN cable.Ā  It works out well, you shouldn't need it.

3 - I definately think it is, 50$ is reasonable for the amount you get out of the membership.Ā  Online play is key with 360's current line-up, so I highly recommend you take it into consideration.Ā  Also patches, updates, and downloadable content are nice to have.

4 - Battery packs for the controllers, you don't want to contend with AA batteries that come standard (well I wouldn't at least).Ā

Ā

Also your Vista PC and 360 will be buddies through the same network :)... that is if you got Media Center included in your edition of Vista.Ā  I love the feature myself.Ā  You have PS3 already and apparently like it, so you'll definitely like 360.Ā  You'll just expand your options.Ā  Enjoy dude

Absolutely get a 360 but only if your planning on getting xbox live or else its useless. Get the wireless internet to its great.

SOme games to get should be rainbow six vegas, forza motorsport 2(comes out may 29), and call of duty

Only God can help you, TC... but lucky for you, God loves Microsoft.

But I'll say my piece anyway.

1) Overheating is an overstated issue. The consoles have had a higher than normal failure rate, but most of them are good. I've had mine since I bought it in April '06. No problems.

2) I bought a wi-fi adapter and it works great, but your best option is ALWAYS to run an ethernet cable so you have the best possible connection. I have an unusually strong wireless network and get a better signal than some wired networks for some reason. I think I have the Holy Spirit in my broadband.

3) $50 a year gets you the best online multiplayer experience in the industry. You get what you pay for with free. Sony's works, but not as well... Nintendo's? You can barely get into their marketplace for free. Again, you get what you pay for. $50 a year shouldn't be a deal if you have a job (don't know how old you are here), but it's definitely worth every penny. Rounds out the experience and definitely adds more replay value to those games.

4) The only other thing that you should be aware of is that every game out on PS3 that's worth anything aside from MGS (which I think is overrated and that Kojima is a conceited hack ass) and Final Fantasy (which hasn't been good since VII) is on 360. Plus the 360 will have Halo 3, Gears Of War (as much as I think that game is all hype), Viva Pinata (don't knock it till you try it), Dead Rising, etc. etc. As far as Nintendo goes, they've got another thing going on that really doesn't compare. I think ultimately it comes down to Sony or MS and I think MS has the better thing going. Sony's got a BluRay player, but BluRay hasn't finalized its specs yet so there's no guarantee that the BluRay player in the PS3 will even be compatible with future releases.Ā
